Shop this look: Whitney Port Style Guide as a Hipster Gypsy
Monday, April 19th, 2010
When I’ve watched episodes of The Hills, I used to only like Whitney Port. I never really watched her reality spin-off The City, because I’m just not that into reality TV unless it’s a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, Whitney is still pretty likable as far as reality TV personas can go.
I especially like her first day of Coachella outfit as seen here. It’s very Hippie-esque. I’m sure the brunette girl to the left - holding the cigarette and wearing the predictable gladiator sandals - is vapid and boring. But Whitney at least looks like she’d have something interesting to say.
Her hair is cute, and I like that she even changed it into a braid. I’m not sure if she really has a star tattoo on her shoulder, but it’s cool even if she drew it on. The black bandeau top and high-wasted shorts are great because they’re sort of awkward. The flats are a surprising touch, and I really like them. The modern accessories and purse are also right on theme. I think this is a very hip outfit to be seen in, unless you’re at a funeral.

It’s hard not to love the wardrobe of sassy Lux on Life Unexpected. Recently someone left a comment on my TV blog about the dress Lux wore in the season finale of Life Unexpected. I don’t know the exact dress designer, but even if I could get th ... Read More
Dress like Jem in a Modern Way (Truly Outrageous?!)
Saturday, February 20th, 2010
If you’re a child of the 80′s, then you MUST know who Jem is! (Basically the Hannah Montana of her time, only in cartoon form.) I had a Jem doll and that doll was amazing – especially since her earrings LIT UP. I remember being really excited about that, mock not! Anyway. In a continuation of a them of using cartoons as fashion inspiration, I thought of Jem. While she actually wore a LOT of different outfits on the show (there is an entire website dedicated to the cartoon wardrobe for Jem) her iconic outfit was the pink dress, fringed belt and pink shoe ensemble. Purple eyeshadow and star-shaped earrings helped make it extra fabulous. So, how do we take Jem, a childhood idol, and put it into a modern interpretation for today? Because, I’m sure you could find exact replicas of her outfit somewhere for Halloween, but this isn’t about Halloween costumes. This is about clothing that represents Jem. Which mean it’s gotta be about fun. The most kick ass fun stuff EVAR.

Tiny Toons Spring into Fashion
Monday, February 1st, 2010
My twitter friend Ilana, who obsesses over TV as much as I do, was talking about Tiny Toons recently. SURELY you must remember Tiny Toons as an after-school staple, do you not? Well, I guess it depends on your age…blah, blah. Well, she posted a link to a video that got me inspired to think the very rational question, how would you dress Babs the bunny today, in actual clothing? It’s more sensible than you think – it’s almost Spring (well, let me believe it is!) so the colors of yellow and purple are spot-on for the season.
As always, every item I pi ... Read More
