supergoop review

I recently had the chance to try the Supergoop SPF 30+ Everyday UV Moisturizing Sun Protection Lotion for Faces & Hands. While I can’t say that five time fast (no way, dudes), I can tell you what I thought of the lotion.

What’s important to know is that this is a paraben free lotion with vitamins A, C & A,  SPF 30, safe for all ages (even as young as 4 months) and is made to be “very water resistant.” I’m very interested in the idea of water resistant lotion, since it seems like as soon as I put the lotion on I’m washing my hands for something.

This has no fragrance which is great for girls who know they want to wear perfume, and it’s also great because then MALES will wear it! The bottle isn’t girly looking at all – it’s white with some yellow, navy blue and gray. Neither your little boy or husband will think it’s sissy to use.

The SPF 30 makes it great to use in summer, but also winter (especially if you or your kids do outdoor winter sports/activities like sledding.) Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean the sun’s rays aren’t hitting you.

Plus! No animal testing is done!

Mission Skincare Review: Paraben Free Lotion

paraben free lotion

Never one to snub my nose at a new lotion, I eagerly tried some Mission Skincare Energizing Hand + Body Moisturizer with SPF 18. It said it was “athlete engineered,” but I figure that even if I’m not an athlete I can certainly benefit from the same stuff as them!

This paraben free lotion is indeed tested by athletes, and NEVER tested on animals. (Yay! I was going to write “score” but thought that might seem like a sporty pun…) It is “enriched with M-10 Complex of Vitamins (Vitamins A, B, C, D3, E and K) and Antioxidants (Goji, Acai, Pomegranate and Cranberry.)” On top of that, it provides both SPF 18 UVA protection as well as UVB sun ray protection.

Sidebar: What’s the deal with UVA vs. UVB. Well, I had to do some googling! The sun has wave particles in both UVB and UVA form. The UVA wave rays are the longer ones, and can get into your skin deeper. The UVA rays deep in skin cause structural damage, you could say – like causing wrinkles and freckles. It can also lead to malignant cancer. The UVB rays are shorter and get caught in your skin’s upper crust, and is what causes skin cancer. UVB is protected by sunscreen, and UVA is protected by sunblock.

It retails for under $10 and is available at ... Read More
