Spring Boots : 2010 | Strut in Fields of Flowers
Thursday, April 8th, 2010
Eleven pairs of beautiful boots stand before me. But only one can be the winner of your heart. Which will be America’s Next Top Bootie?
Planning on splashing around the town? You don’t need Uggs, but you do need a pair of spring boots that are water resistant. Bonus points if they’re cute. And I happen to think these Chooka Rain Boots are. Do you watch 30 Rock? I can see Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) wearing these. More.
Perfect for a fashionista that lives on a budget, these Wild Diva Women’s Ankle Boots are a great find for boots under $50. More.

The Allure of a Chain Strap Purse is Gripping Me to No End!
Sunday, March 21st, 2010
Okay, Chanel is FAMOUS for making chain strap purses. But I will never own a Chanel bag in my lifetime, and I have to be okay with that. And I won’t let that stop me, either. If you’ve been watching Damages on FX, then you know there’s a particular designer chain link strappy purse that is important this season. (No spoilers, don’t panic.) Watching Rose Byrne aka Ellen Parsons (who is so beautiful, let’s just pause and savor her beauty) carry the purse around makes my brain go: IWantOneIWantOneIWantOne. And who am I to deny myself? Well, I deny myself TONS. Which is really all the more reason to not deny myself this kind of purse. But first I have to find the right one. Which sadly cannot be this amazing Lauren Merkin Bag because it’s over $300! Boo, go on sale!

GOSSIP GIRL Fashion for Less | ‘The Hurt Locket’ Episode
Sunday, March 7th, 2010
I got a press release with this GOSSIP GIRL image that I wanted to share with you guys. It’s actually a really great GOSSIP GIRL fashion guide (“The Hurt Locket”) for those who like to stay up on that. It’s fun to see what designers each piece are from, although…let’s be honest – if they listed the prices of these items we’d cringe! What we in the real world need are GOSSIP GIRL fashion for LESS. The component of mixing winter whites with upcoming Spring make for an interesting outfit. A sweater dress in a white or cream is great when paired with a white bag with texture (like snakeskin or crocodile). They don’t say if Blake Lively was wearing any perfume for this scene, but I can practically smell the Donna Karan “Cashmere Mist” from here, so I’m also including that in the collage.

The Necklace Trend We Can’t Get Enough Of
Thursday, March 4th, 2010
Ribbon and crystal necklaces are super trendy right now, but even without the trend factor – I love them. But can we find them not just for under $100, but under $75 a la the Lee Angel designer necklace? Yes, yes we can! Especially with help from Etsy.com.
Designer Garb Majorly on Sale, Pretend You’re Rachel McAdams!
Monday, March 1st, 2010
Oh, if only I were Rachel McAdams and had designer clothing sent TO me instead of having to seek it out myself. Luckily, I was blessed as being a James Bond-y like fashion sleuth.
I like the designer Derek Green a lot. And I like his pieces even more when they’re on sale. That is the preface to our story. So, I had saved the link to a Derek Green skirt that I was interested in on Amazon, and today I saw that it was on sale. And when I looked at the other Derek Green items, I saw that many other’s were on sale. Whoopee!
“If you’re wearing my things and a guy can’t take his eyes off you, I’ve done my job,” says the creator of Derek Green Designs. “My ready-to-wear collections offer great fit, comfort and sex appeal,” he says. “But my clothing is never restrictive; my fabrics include some stretch, like twills, denims and knits, with touches of leather and hardware to give the pieces edge.”

Five Ruffle Shoes Under 100 Dollars
Sunday, February 28th, 2010
Not only are ruffled sandals popular these days, but they help create a longer leg line from the front. It adds a great bit of pop to an otherwise dull outfit (black pants with ruffled red sandals are va-va-voomy!) and….they’re just so pretty and happy and nice! Gwen Stefani’s line L.A.M.B. has some ruffled sandals out right now but they’re like $200, which is too rich for my iron-poor blood. If you aren’t happy with these selections, ask a salesperson about Steve Madden – that brand is doing lots of ruffles right now. I used to think Steve Madden was only for teens, but I think they’re somehow matured when I wasn’t looking.
Lee Angel Jewelry for LESS is an Occasion to Shop
Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Carrie Mulligan (the actress in the beautiful movie An Education) wears a pair of small Lee Angel earrings in Vanity Fair. Since I couldn’t see the earrings in the picture, I did an easy google search to see what Lee Angel jewelry looked like. I found there were some very cool ombre pieces by the designer – too cool to just ignore. Now, I can tell you that ombre is when a color fades from one to the next, although asking me for how to pronounce it probably won’t get you far. But I can ALSO tell you that ombre jewelry looks uber stylish.
I think we can find ombre jewelry for less than that! After all, we thrive on fashio ... Read More

What are the Best Reed Diffusers? AVOID Greenair!
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
It looks nice, huh? WELL, IT DOESN'T WORK!
I made a very poor purchase the other day while trying to help the planet! I was using a gift card at Marshall’s, and saw they had a display of all of these different reed diffusers. Because I keep hearing about how the scent of lavender can considerably calm a person, I decided I’d grab one. But there were lavender reed diffusers from several different brands. I picked the one from Greenair, which said it was “organic and earth friendly aromatherapy”. Normally $10.00 per bottle, I got mine for $5.99. The box claimed it was an earth-friendly product made of natural essential oils that would continue to scent my room for up to three months. Well, they should have mentioned that it wouldn’t even work for one day!
I followed the instructions just as I was told, but there was no scent coming out from the reeds unless I put my nose right over them. So I spun the sticks and flipped them around as the box said to do. But still, no scent. Meanwhile, the fluid is draining away and evaporating so fast that 1/3 is practically already gone after TWO days!
Trying to salvage a horrible product, I used the sticks and pretended ... Read More
