I’m not extremely concerned with watches these days, but there was a time in my teenage years when I was. I had to have the perfect watch for school. During this picky phase I had two perfect watches. One had a black leather strap and had an image of the sun and moon on the watch face. The other face was silver with a black square watch face. I loved them both and wearing them kept me feeling reassured that I would always be able to easily check the time and never be late (I still hate being late, to this day).

But, you protest – “Jessica, we have cell phones now! Certainly we know the time.”  Ah, sure. MAYBE.  But can you really pull your cell phone out at every instance? Even in the middle of a big meeting, or while your hands are busy? It’s rude/inconvenient!  This is why I say watches still have a purpose.
