Bacon Chocolate Review – Salty and Sweet Meet Again

by on Friday, April 8th, 2011

I took the plunge into bacon chocolate, guys. Vosges Chocolate sent along two items to be reviewed. Let’s get right to it.

Vosges Bacon and Eggs Review: This is dark chocolate with caramel that has tiny pieces of bacon in it. I’m a fan of salt and sweet, but going into this review there was just something disturbing about this for me. Despite the pretty packaging and the delicious outer dark chocolate, I couldn’t get on board 100%.  My second taste test went better, though. The bacon is smokey, and not too strong. If you’re going to do bacon chocolate, go with Vosges. They’re the leader in it. The caramel was melt-in-your-mouth yummy with the chocolate. The bacon gave it an unusual takeaway taste.

Vosges Orchid Vanilla Bunny Review: Dark chocolate is married with the Tahitian vanilla bean for this little bunny. Well, it’s not little. it’s medium-sized, and oh-so-cute. I love those floppy ears. The texture is a bit weird, as there are coconut-like (in texture) pieces of the vanilla. It smells nice, though. You have to really like dark chocolate – I found it too intense as I only mildly like dark chocolate. There are other options for this bunny design, in flavors I think are probably better suited for me.

I’ve never had Vosges chocolate before, and since I’m not even a huge fan of dark chocolate and that’s all I could review, it’s hard to say too much. It was still good, but maybe I’m just a traditional kind of chocolate-eater. Nothing wrong with some high-quality milk chocolate, guys!

Disclosure: Items were sent to be reviewed. There was no momentary compensation for a favorable review.

Never try it, I guess my mistake, sounds like interesting flavor mix. Same as you, I also like dark chocolate.
