The Headache Cure that Smells Great (Hint: It’s Lavender!)

Lavender Oil

by papertissue on tumbler

I really did used to love gumballs, and getting the white gumball from a machine was pretty much the worst feeling EVER. But recently I’ve been having all of these headaches which are almost migraines (and sometimes migraines, but not usually). And I gotta tell you, the best feeling is when a constant headache finally goes awaaaaay and I can think again without all of this pressure on my head from a dreaded sinus headache. I’ve tried different over the counter medications for headaches, and even gone to the doctor and gotten prescription medication for migraines. When you have a headache you don’t want to think about any of that, you just want to know what works and how fast you can get it into your system.

Other things I’ve tried have been more homeopathic remedies. A headache cure that I swear by is using my sense of smell to make the headache go bye, bye, bye (N*sync style). For me, sometimes the best headache treatment is a homeopathic treatment. Although I definitely would not recommend putting a cayenne pepper paste up your nose ... Read More

Statement necklace – Spotty Cream Necklace by BoutiqueKokosh on Etsy.com

Riddle me this, if you’re going to fork out money for a gorgeous and bold statement necklace – why would you pay so much for one that other people will almost definitely have? I have seen lots of options for statement necklaces of 2009. So, let me ask you this – when it comes to a statement necklace shop, does J-Crew think they are the only shop that stocks them? Moreover, do you think you can only find them at J-Crew? Psh! HARDLY. J-Crew makes great jewelry ... Read More

How to Wear Shoe Boots (And Five Shoe Booties Under $100)

Buckled Zipper Booties from Charlotte Russe $20

Shoe Booties by kudumomo on Flickr

When it comes to shoes for fall 09, booties are still hot. Whether you call them a shoebooty or shoe bootie (or ankle boots), they’re cute. Calling them “booties” reminds me of the little booties that babies wear, but no one seems to mind. So, what shoe boots are cute for right now? And, even more importantly, let’s discuss how to wear shoe boots. Because the worst thing is to buy something great and then have no idea what to do with it besides look at it longingly in your closet.

June of JuneLin.com has posted pictures of booties seen on the runways for Hermes, J Mendel, and Marc Jacobs. Those shoes are BANANAS, as Rachel Zoe would say. But seriously, I PINE, I YEARN! And yet, I still can’t buy them because then I would have no ... Read More

Urban Outfit Discount: Urban Outfitters Dresses on Sale!

urban outfitters dresses on sale

Urban Outfitters makes great, chic clothing for teens and people in their 20’s. If you aren’t sure of Urban Outfit locations, you can always go to their website Urbn.com. The stores are full of funky jewelry, large leather handbags with fringe, candles that smell like papayas, neon pink alarm clocks shaped like owls, and the kind of clothing that instantly makes you feel more hip. Most urbn outfit dresses are upwards of $60.00, but there is a sale going on right now where tons and tons of dresses are on sale. That seems like a good occasion for shopping – or at least a good occasion to take a look and see what they have.

A lot of these dresses can be worn in the fall as long as you wear some textured tights and a cardigan over them (maybe even a ... Read More

BGCG Max Azria from hyku on Flickr

BGCG Max Azria from hyku on Flickr

I’ve loved BCBG from even before what I knew much about the line. Max Azria has a daughter and her bedroom was featured in Seventeen Magazine when I was a teen who got that magazine. All of her clothing was mostly black and white, organized in a huge closet. And her room was mostly all white, except her Dad had encouraged her to paint her bedroom walls yellow… Anyway – I just remember loving her room and wishing my Dad was also a fashion designer. Which…would be hilarious because his idea of style is changing into clean jeans. Cue an eye roll here.

These days, BCBG Max Azria dresses are sought after for their style and fit. I really wish there was a BCBG Max Azria outlet near me, but alas there is not. But, ... Read More

Billie Piper “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” Styles to Steal

Max Studio on sale for $50

Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Billie Piper is someone I loved on Doctor Who, and now I love her on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The show is NOT as dirty as it sounds. It’s not PG, of course. It’s like Sex and the City, and who didn’t love that show? Well some people didn’t. And I didn’t like the Sex and the City movie.. but I digress!

Showtime put together a cute website for Secret Diary of a Call Girl, which included a style section. They show stuff Billie Piper’s character actually wore on the show. And I went through it to show you what stuff on the list is affordable in some way. Most of it is way too much, but you might be surprise ... Read More

Plaid Shirts for Women

Plaid patterns by mukluk on Flickr

Fall makes me think about lots of great things… new school notebooks, apple crisp (which I make myself!) and plaid. When I was younger I had little plaid skirts and wore actual knee socks. During the 90’s, flannel and plaid was popular with the entire 90’s grunge thing – and I remember I had one flannel shirt that I loooved. It was peachy with turquoise and if I knew where it was I swear I would still wear it.

But it’s okay, because right now plaid is so trendy for fall 09 that it’s impossible to find a store that isn’t stocking it. So the chances of me finding a new favorite plaid shirt is good. Plaid shirts for women are major right now. MAJOR!

There are lots of plaid shirts online to shop through. They’re virtual racks that let you think about what color combination for the shirt you might like while walking barefoot to your kitchen to get a bowl of Lucky Charms and think about what it’d be like to kiss Jude Law ... Read More

Fall Hats & Winter Hats – Stylishly Sneaking Under the Radar With Picks under $40

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

felt hat

Lucky Magazine recommends the above Wool Felt Hat from Macys, which costs $44. Well, I say NO to that. We can find a good fall that that is stylish and less expensive. I’ve worked hard to find you other hat suggestions, all under $40, but mostly under $20. Floppy hats are great, but cloche hats are something I think that will be even more popular. The pro to a floppy hat? You can kind of hide your face under them more – but are you a celebrity who needs to hide? I don’t know. The con to a floppy hat? They will lose their shape more easily. You have to treat it like a newborn puppy and give it a spot of its own to live – no flopping it in with a stack of winter scarves.
