What is Your Ideal Day?

by on Sunday, November 21st, 2010

I love the idea of a “you are not alone” website where people can visit and share a story. This post is all about “my ideal day.” It originated in the simplest of ways…I was writing an e-mail to my friend, Kerstin, and decided to be silly by ending it by suggesting she do no more work and that instead we should…

my ideal day

Well, I’ll just show you what I wrote.

MY IDEAL DAY:

No work is allooooowed. We are going to go to a spa! No! A Canadian village where we call each other Lorelai and Rory! And then we meet Conan O’Brien and win free indoor pools. Then we magically drop 10 lbs while we’re eating really fancy food with Tina Fey (who thinks we’re all soul mates.) The cast of Glee then sings us a song, and we get to have a shopping spree in Pier 1/Marshalls/World Market for home decor. Then, we decide to help out at an animal shelter where they need us to play with animals (including kittens, dogs, hedgehogs, bunnies, cats, puppies and chinchillas.) We help people make a puuurfect match and encourage an unprecedented number of people to adopt that day! To unwind we wear funky striped socks and Meryl Streep teaches us how to meditate. We get up in the middle of the night to find a message in a bottle while we’re night swimming, and end up in an episode of Gilligan’s Island just long enough to steal the Skipper’s hat.

So… now YOU share. What is your ideal day? So, so many bonus points if you include a visual aid collage. (You can upload it at TinyUrl.com and share the url! To make the collage, try Polyvore if you don’t have Photoshop.)

All images in my collage are from Wiki Commons.

I would add. After arriving at the spa you find that the person assigned to do your foot and body massage was none other than the werewolf from True Blood, Alcide Herveaux! Of course after the spa he has nothing else to do, but accompany you to the Canadian Village.

My ideal day is sleeping until noon and then getting up natural – doing some yoga and eating a big brunch at Perennial in Chicago with my mom. Then we would go to the spa and get manicures, pedicures, facials and massages. And we could curl up in the shade of a tree in the park and just chat.

    My ideal day:

    - The kids would stay the night at my in-laws so I can sleep in as long as I want uninterrupted! This has never happened before. I never get a day off…I’m up at 7 EVERY DAY with my “up with the sun” boys.

    - I would go to a spa and get a 2 hour long massage. Part deep tissue, part hot stone. Then I would get a manicure, and a pedicure. Maybe even a face treatment.

    - Go window shopping…maybe buy a few things. Head to the library or book store, lounge around looking at books.

    - Come home, have the kids home soon after. But they would be perfect angels and we would all have a calm, relaxing family evening watching movies and eating popcorn in our pj’s. Then everybody would go to bed without a peep about it. And they would stay asleep. And hopefully, not get up at 7AM the next morning.

    My ideal day is simple:

Good friends at a good meal, preferably outside on a gorgeous Los Angeles day.
End it all with snuggling up with my boy and watching something supremely geeky and awesome like Lord of the Rings or Battlestar Gallatica.

    best day ever.

My ideal day would be waking up late on a tropical island by the ocean to my beautiful sons & fiance. We would play at the ocean and go eat delicious fruit and seafood. The whole day would be spent by the ocean and then we’d retire to our beautiful beachside cabana for bed.

Because I still nurse my little love, my ideal day would be able to sleep in late, then go to breakfast with some friends – followed by some time at the salon for a haircut and mmani/pedi. Then home to read for an hour or two before going to a nice relaxing and quite dinner with my husband.

This is easy because I”m going to copy from our vacation. Wake up super early in Tuscany, take the metro to Rome. Start at Palozzo Del Popolo and enjoy the garden of the Borghese and then take the left street from the twin churches and proceed to the Vatican. If the weather is nice, do St. Peters and then take the metro to the Colisseum and do the Forum, Arch and Wedding Cake Monument. If weather is bad (and why would it be, it’s my ideal day DAMMIT!), stay at the vatican. Enjoy great food and be grateful.

My ideal day is sleeping in. Then getting up and not having to do any house work. Shower, spa, shopping (and actually getting things for my self. Not grocery shopping.) Movie, dinner out, and finally coming home and sitting by a fireplace reading a good book.

My ideal day is being out shopping and spending time with hubby and daughter. No phone calls from work, no drama from the teenager, no dogs to chase down the highway(they like to run out the door and try to get run over, ugh) to deal with. We would have unlimited funds as well. We could buy anything we saw that we wanted. I love to do this in reality with them but we have to deal with the complications, the worst being one or more of us not getting something we want so the other can get something they want because of limited funds. It’s usually me backing away from what I want but I don’t mind. I love my little family and their happiness is good enough for me.

Another take on that same ideal day is for me to be all by myself with unlimited funds. Lol. Maybe with a sweet young thing to carry my bags.
