The Single Girls Guide – unclog a drain in the shower or sink | Zip it Review

by on Wednesday, January 1st, 2014

When I was a teenager, my Dad could always get out the weird “snake” device from the basement and deal with the gobs of long hair that me and my three sisters had let carelessly go down the drain.¬† Invariably, the drain would stop draining quite so well, and we’d complain.

Here’s a close up of the Zip It.

These days, I’ve had to find a new way to fix the problem, and Draino just doesn’t work the way it always advertises. So, I went into Home Depot and asked around for what would help a single girl like me tackle this totally gross problem.

I met two very nice women who were working there, and they directed me past tall shelves of crazy tools, to something hanging on the end of an aisle. The product is plastic, long, thin, white, and has little teeth. One of the women even said she had one of theses, herself, and it does work.

Well, having used it 3 times now, I can tell you that it’s definitely worked for me. I can also say that it is definitely gross the first time. This is why I’ve done it two other times…because I never want it to get so gross again. Like, it’s not my fault – I have really long hair, and I DO try to always keep it from going down the drain…but life isn’t perfect. (I also one time used it for my bathroom sink.)

I’d suggest having paper towels and newspapers. Even gloves, if you want. I mean, I’m a germaphobic weirdo so I don’t want to touch anything gross. It’s pretty satisfying to know that you’ve taken care of your bathroom¬† yourself, though. It’s THE YEAR OF YOU!

Wanna know the even best part? This thing is UNDER FIVE BUCKS.
