A Blog (Post) About Life and Why Singing Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff is Always Funny

by on Sunday, October 24th, 2010

I made breakfast this morning, guys! That’s a big deal, for me.  And it was  even edible! I made french toast (with vanilla, clove and cinnamon) and brown sugar bacon (tip: I’ve made this twice now and you should cook it the full 22/24 minutes, or it won’t get crispy enough.) I’d planned to make fruit smoothies but I settled for orange juice (and okay, an additional side beverage of Diet Coke because I need to hydrate and also have caffeine!)

Taking a tiny pause, I wanted to share with you guys something exciting. I’m one of the judges for The Tasty Awards. What is that? You’ve asked a fair question!

The TASTY AWARDS is the premier broadcast awards show to celebrate and recognize the year’s best achievements in food and fashion programs on Television, in Film, and Online.

TASTY AWARDS are selected in various categories by a Panel of A-list industry Judges, as well as by Viewer Voting. Recipients are announced and receive their honors on January 13, 2011 at a Red Carpet Awards Show in Hollywood, portions of which are filmed for broadcast on national television to millions of households, as well as on Hulu.com and partner sites.

So, yes. I’m a judge! It makes me feel special. Dance paaarty.

This week will hopefully not be sucktacular. We have a new plus size blogger, Rachel, to introduce to you guys. Naturally, we have a few giveaways for you to enter, too.

I’ m putting on The Hills season 1 (DON’T JUDGE) to see Heidi Montag before she was uh, ruined, while I work on a few things from this laptop. (It’s 10:30 and I’m still in pajamas, mwahahaha.)

Some of you know I’m also a TV journalist. Tomorrow I’m screening  Syfy’s movie “Red: Werewolf Hunter” hours before I get to talk to the star, Felicia Day. I’ve interviewed Felicia Day one-on-one twice before, and she’s a sweetheart who is also a personal hero of mine. Syfy movies are always amazing, like modern fairytales. If you haven’t seen Tin Man or Alice, I HIGHLY advise you check them out soon. Like, you know, yesterday!

Other tiny, inconsequential notes:

  • I’m parting my hair down the middle for the first time since ever, what up!
  • Low fat vanilla yogurt + granola + fruit is my favorite new snack/breakfast.
  • I’m determined to watch “Hocus Pocus” this Halloween. I miss that movie so much. “Amok, amok, amok!”
  • One of our upcoming giveaways is with Sanuk, and I just saw that Amanda Seyfried loves wearing Sanuk’s. She actually has the same ones we’re giving away! “Junebug.”
  • I finally saw Seyfried’s movie “Chloe” and it was decent, but I was really obsessed with Amanda’s hair in “Chloe” and her clothing and coat. Sadly the coat was something  old from Anthropologie.
  • We’ve had ShesSmart.com running since October 1st, 2009 – so we just had a one year anniversary! Within the past few months we’ve double our monthly unique visitors to the website, and are thriving! Keep telling your friends about us, and visit the site! If there’s something you want to see more of, let me know in the comments!
  • Someone should make the bumper sticker, “Life isn’t real until you’ve blogged about it!” Kidding, kidding. But with all of this technology, sometimes that’s what it feels like.

O.K., here’s the situation
My parents went away on a week’s vacation and
They left the keys to the brand new Porsche
Would they mind?
Umm, well, of course not
I’ll just take it for a little spin
And maybe show it off to a couple of friends
I’ll just cruise it around the neighborhood
Well, maybe I shouldn’t

Yeah, of course I should
So to you all the kids all across the land
Take it from me, parents just don’t understand.
