I love when it's focused on trends- since alot of them are 'repeat' statements from times gone by- such as Jet in the WHBM line, combined with current styles! So, not only does it recommend looking into the oldies- found in grandma's jewelry box, but- also 'adding' new pieces- some trendy, some timeless- all full of style!
Of course, I love giveaways- I'm a mom with little time to shop, though my teen makes sure I get there once in a while. What I go for- varies moment to moment. Personally, for myself (which I'm rarely in) it's white house black market (of course!) because I love their simple & timeless styles, pricey perfumes that are harder to find or obtain (think: bond no. 9, creed, child, etc…) basically- the things celebs get because they can afford it & I adore when I can save up for it! I don't splurge much- but, when I do- they're higher end 'keepers'.
Thinking of my children- I register for giveaways- that include a vast assortment of things- electronics are most popular (hey, they are with my husband and I as well!) those- trendy!!! lol. They both adore skating- agressive style, competitions & follow pro's on those things- camping @ woodward skate camps, trips to astronaut camp- again, the experiences that I'm generally not able to afford time or financially- sometimes both. Having that handed to them- pushes me into doing it & of course- I brag to Mom's in our circles (sports, scouts, etc…) That's how word of mouth travels from blog to life- we get it, wear it, use it, do it- and then we get asked about it & brag like crazy on the products & things.
(told 'ya this was complicated! whew I talk!!! lol.)
I adore the pics- they 'tie in' what I'm reading- since average folks spend only seconds selecting what to read- having them on here, is definitely a step ahead. More, more, more!
Yes- I do get things I read about on blogs. I couldn't name them all- but, I definitely study up before many purchases & I value independent ratings higher than direct ones.
I prefer to shop in different ways- if it's fashion, definitely usually independent stores, or 'off the beaten path' places that others are not going. I cringe if I show up looking like the other mom's and worry- have I FINALLY gotten as old as THEY are??? hehe. I mix and match things as well- huge antique jewelry fan- I may wear a 100 year old piece with a current style, and get loads of compliments. Same with scents- I prefer non-mainstream scents that most mom's in my little city miss- Jo Malone is a recent love of mine (cacao is the yummiest!!!). Though I often like chain stores- generally higher end, saks is a fav, WHBM definitely, and so many others. I follow designers as well- adore many so when they design for certain stores- I'm on it!
Age bracket? I keep telling my teen I'm only 16, he doesn't believe me anymore though. I'm a youngish 30 something. Having a teen and friends around- also keeps me up on their current trends as well. I tend to dress so he's not hiding behind things when we are together.
