best chick flicks

Is there anything better than getting cozy with a bowl of popcorn and a really great, fun movie? We’ve compiled a list of our top ten favorite chick flicks, and then added about a zillion runner’s-up (it’s hard to pick, man)! Consider checking out these movies if you haven’t seen them. And if you have movie suggestions? Let us know! Plus, look for our ‘Top Ten WORST Chick Flicks’ coming up later on. Lord knows we don’t love every movie that’s out there for us to enjoy. Some have been painful. But for now, let’s focus on the good. Look how positive we’re being – woo!

Down with Love: The most perfect love story, set in the 1960’s. It stars Renee Zellweger and Ewan Mcgregor. “The bright, glossy world of Doris Day and Rock Hudson sex comedies gets a self-aware brush-up.” It has wit, singing, montages, and amazing clothing. What more could you want?

The Devil Wears Prada: Immerse yourself in the fashion world with this colorful movie that features Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

Pretty Woman: Realistically, we shouldn’t idolize a movie about a call girl. And yet we do. We do and we don’t care!

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day: A completely wonderful fairytale type of story set in the 30’s. It stars Amy Adams, Lee Pace and Frances McDormand. We love that it makes us want to sing, flirt with charming men, and take lavish bubble baths.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s: A must-see movie for those who love Audrey Hepburn, or have a love of little black dresses. I consider almost all Audrey Hepburn movie’s to be must-see movies. Even if you are not ‘into’ old movies, this one will not disappoint.

13 Going on 30: Jennifer Garner was made to be in chick flicks because we can’t stop watching her or this movie.

Legally Blonde: Reese Witherspoon made us all want to go blonde in this empowering movie full of pink.

Clueless: As if we have to tell you why this valley-girl classic is so fun to watch! Just be careful about the urge to buy those feathery pens Cher is always using – they’re sooo 1999’s.

Steel Magnolias: This movie will make you cry. And sometimes that’s the best feeling in the world. Let all of your pent-up feelings go. You’ll wish you had a beauty parlor to visit as soon as the movie ends.

How to Marry a Millionaire: This classic movie from the 50’s stars three single women who want to nab a bachelor. It’s great fun to watch Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable at their best. Don’t be surprised that this film has lots of clever dialogue hidden in the comedy.
