Skip the rest and see Gerard Butler in Frankie and PS I LOVE YOU to catch on to what a fine and sensitive actor he is. Both films will bring you to laughter and tears more than once.
Frankie Review:
Winner at both the Heartland Film Festival and the Seattle International Film Festival, this entertaining motion picture is sure to touch your heart! Driven by intelligent, constantly surprising and moving performances from the film’s leads, Dear Frankie stars Emily Mortimer (Lovely and Amazing) as Lizzie, Scottish mother of Frankie (Jack McElhone), a deaf and highly intelligent 9-year-old. Constantly uprooting themselves and relocating from town to town, Lizzie and Frankie are on the run from the latter’s abusive father, a fact unknown to the boy, who believes his dad is a busy seaman sending letters full of adventure and love. Torn between exposing the truth and protecting her son, Lizzie gets more than anyone bargained for when she hires a handsome stranger (Gerald Butler — THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE) to play the role of a lifetime! The moral tangles are of interest in director Shona Auerbach’s charmingly paced, quietly insightful drama-comedy, but so is the glorious feeling of watching these characters come fully alive.
This touching and humorous movie has earned the raves of critics and won the hearts of audiences everywhere!
PS I LOVE YOU Review:
For those who believe true love lasts beyond this physical plane, P.S. I Love You is a jewel in the romantic-movie crown. With elements of Ghost, Heaven Can Wait, and My Life, the film is an unabashed valentine to the notion of lasting (everlasting?) love. Hilary Swank is Holly, a deeply happy lass married to the most impossibly adorable Irishman on the planet, Gerry (Gerard Butler). When an illness takes him from her, Holly spirals into depression. Then, as if from beyond the grave, communications, gifts, and remembrances from Gerry begin to appear–gestures he’d planned knowing his death was coming. The “communications” with her dead husband could threatened to keep Holly in past, yet they begin to pave a path into her future.
Swank, not a traditional romantic actress, is quite moving as Holly, whose grief and confusion is palpable. Butler will win new continents of fans, largely female, as the yummiest honey one could wish for. Special kudos to the supporting cast, including Lisa Kudrow as a Holly pal, and James Marsters and Kathy Bates, always breaths of fresh air onscreen. Under the sure hand of director-writer Richard LaGravenese, P.S. I Love You is touching, sad (have tissues on hand), and heartbreakingly lovely. –A.T. Hurley

What I dislike is that you don’t have a feature on male fashion leaders. Why not tell us which guys are looking good fashion wise and show us pictures – if they’re good looking to boot well that is all good. But well dressed, well put together men are always a turn on, don’t you think? And it is helpful when we try to update our men as well.

Gerard Butler was great in Law Abiding Citizen. If you have not seen it you def. should. Also, a fun bit of LAC trivia is that Jaime Fox was supposed to play the criminal and Gerard was supposed to play the Lawyer. I am glad they did not do it that way!!
