Best Sugar Free Desserts: Chocolate Box of Lurve

best sugar free desserts

It may be with a groan that you decide to limit your sugar intake, and I’m right there with you. Luckily there are really healthy and beautiful some role models (with rockin’ bodies of course – think: Yvonne Strahovski) and enough qualified doctor-y people on TV reminding me how bad sugar is that I’ve been making a slow decline in (real) sugar consumption. So, I decided that I would try sugar free chocolate. And that’s when I came to the Illinois Nut and Fantasia Chocolate Company. Surprisingly, they make all sorts of sugar free candy (taffy, truffles, gummi’s), including sugar free chocolate. Since I often hate cooking, pre-packaged stuff is right up my alley as the best sugar free desserts around.

Side Note – Celebrities Who Don’t Eat Sugar:
  • Selma Blair (nor gluten)
  • Gwyneth Paltrow
  • Kelly Osbourne
  • Yvonne Strahovski (though she had a birthday at the Sugar Factory)
  • Jessica Biel (while working)
  • Jewel
  • Leaving sugar behind is sad, so opt for high ... Read More

christmas gift basket ideas for couples

Looking for the perfect gift basket for you and your significant other to cozy up with while you relax? I have a suggestion that I do believe you’ll find works pretty perfectly. I’ll get into what I loved most, and even the one item that I wasn’t a fan of.

So, let’s begin! I had the chance to review the Christmas Gift Basket Classic™ from Gourmet Gift Baskets. It retails for $59.99.

    General Impression

People love gift baskets, and this one is no exception because it’s sent in a very nice basket with festive decoration (including a fake red poinsettia flower to top it all off. I let Smart Kitty play with it for hours.) Everything is always stacked up so great that this is always an impressive gift to give.

By far the best part of this basket is the Marich chocolate covered cherries. NOM NOM NOM. Delicious. No lying. I’m going to buy some off of Amazon today to include in Christmas presents, I think. I really wish that Gourmet Gift Baskets would do an entire basket devoted to the different Marich products! And then I also wish they’d send me that basket to review. 😛

One of my other favorite parts of the basket was the Chocolate bar by Lake Champlain because I ... Read More

    jewelry giveaways

Hey guys! I’m running a fabulous jewelry giveaway with Scarlett Garnet Jewelry. You may have already seen some of their necklaces if you watch Project Runway! For all of the details head over to my TV site, Small Screen Scoop so you can enter. (Low entries right now! You have a great chance of winning!)  I wanted to make sure none of my She’s Smart ladies missed out on this. I specifically picked out which jewelry piece to give away, so you know that I think it’s damn stylish.

It’s a super long pendant piece you can wear over anything – sweaters, tank tops, etc. Very flexible in terms of how you want to style it. And it’ll work for those who are plus sized or have a large chest, since it’s so long and the pendant is large and has big impact.

P.F. Changs Frozen Meals Review: The Orange Chicken was Seriously Good

    Saturday, October 29th, 2011

    pf changs frozen meals review

P.F. Changs Frozen Meals have had me curious as I passed by the frozen food aisles in the grocery store, but I wasn’t sure if I should take the plunge. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. (Remember how much I hated the TGI Fridays Frozen Skillet Meals? It was a huge waste of money.) But the @wegiveachuck twitter account encourages fans of NBC’s Chuck to support the commercial sponsors. And P.F. Changs has run a spot for their Frozen Meals during Chuck, before. So, I said, whatever, let’s DO this! AND IT WAS DELICIOUS.

I bought the P.F. Changs Orange Chicken Frozen Meal. It requires that you make rice on the side. But rice isn’t hard to make. And, I’m not sure if you’ll believe me, this Orange Chicken Meal was so good that it’s better than when I order my local Chinese food. The chicken was unbelievably tender, the vegetables were good, and the orange sauce was really sweet. I’m planning on buying this in the future for sure. I like to be a lazy cook, and frozen meals are easy for me.

View: Exquisite Jade Necklace for Women from SusanB Jewelry

    Monday, September 19th, 2011

    jade necklace for women

I had the chance to review the Genuine Jade 18K Gold Plated Sterling Silver Necklace from Susan B. What is SusanB about? The site is about affordable, expensive-looking jewelry that makes a stylish statement.

“Your online access to exquisite fashion jewelry- classic style, new trends & exclusive designer accessories- all at prices you can afford. Looking great isn’t as expensive as you think! There’s no mistaking a woman of style…she makes an entrance. Turns heads. Gets compliments. All without any apparent effort. She knows she doesn’t need to spend a million to look like a million. That’s what style is.” Big name designers carried on the site include Kenneth Jay Lane and Betty Carre.

This Jade necklace is a very nice piece that walks the line of bold and soft. The soft green color keeps it looking classic, while the size of the necklace is exactly what you want – it’s not too small that it fades into your skin but it’s not so large that you feel self-conscious trying to pull it off. I love that it matches a lot of things, has a 2 inch extender chain for varying length, and people notice it right away when I’m wearing it. That’s what you want from a good piece of jewelry! You want that reaction of “that’s so pretty, where did y ... Read More

Crest 3D White Strips Review – Decent, but not Magical

    crest 3d white strips review

Attending big events like weddings mean there’s going to be lots of pictures going on. This is why my Mom felt like whitening her teeth before an upcoming wedding of my cousin’s was mandatory for herself. With the help of Crest 3D 2 Hour Express Whitestrips, she was able to do this the DAY OF the wedding, so that was nice. However, she was not a fan of these. Deciding I owed it to you guys to figure this out, I also did a treatment. I wasn’t incredibly impressed, either, to be honest. These are okay, but not amazing.

    Here is her BEFORE smile:

    Here is her AFTER smile:

I did not purposefully intend for her to have no makeup on in the first picture and then have it on in the second, that’s just how it worked out when I was there to photograph her. As you can see, her teeth aren’t dramatically whiter in the af ... Read More

Crest 3D White Strips Review – Before the Application Action!

    Friday, September 2nd, 2011

    new crest white strips

My Mom is a total sweetie. She works herself to the BONE and  never has any time for anything. Seriously, I’m not sure when she’s finding time to bathe and this concerns me! (Kidding.) As she gets more invested in work, she has stopped paying attention to certain things like makeup and doing her hair every day (doing = using curlers). Of course, when there’s an event, the game changes. She has a wedding to attend soon, but no time to prepare for it. This means she’ll be running around for a couple hours before she has to go, trying to remember which eyeshadow she likes and which bra she likes to wear with her favorite Gap top from 4 years ago. And while she’s running around doing these 370 things, she can be whitening her teeth. It only takes 2 hours with the new Express Whitestrips from Crest.

And whitening her teeth is something she likes to do, because she drinks lots of coffee and can get self conscious about her smile. So, when I got a package of these whitestrips to sample, I told her she could be the first one to try them out. And I’m going to post her Crest 3d white strips review for you guys.

What makes these new white strips better is that they’re supposed to grip to your teeth in a tighter way (there are “notches that wrap and conform to teeth” ... Read More

Easy Spa at Home Ideas: My Refreshing Foot Spray Review

    Monday, August 22nd, 2011

    easy spa at home ideas

I received some  Kanshi Instantly Refreshing Foot Spray in the mail and I immediately went into my Liz Lemon mode of mocking how this was clearly the most ridiculous beauty item in the world.  I want to spray my feet to feel refreshed!? Yea, well, turns out…I kinda do. Like, a little. Let me just explain?

    Refreshing Foot Spray Review

Kanshi is a nice line created by Lydia Sarfati (I bet people have often called her “Safari” half her life) and it’s nice because it is a natural line of paraben-free aromatherapy spa products. And, hello, I like to fake spa at my house. One of the easiest spa at home ideas I can give you is to sit down, put your feet on a towel, and have someone spray this on one foot at a time while massaging your feet. It’s nothing you get in your everyday life so it’ll feel special. And getting your foot rubbed totally causes endorphins to kick up and make you feel happier.

The ingredients in this spray aren’t random. There ... Read More
