Shari’s Berries Reviews 2012 – Pink Ribbon Berries are a decadent delight

shari's berries reviews 2012

As a true connoisseur of chocolate cover strawberries, I was delighted to review some by Shari’s Berries.

I was sent the Deluxe Hand-Dipped Pink Ribbon Berries – Full Dozen. Included was a variety of milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate covered berries, along with swirls and sugar decorations.

Since it’s summer, I was also able to evaluate their shipping method to keep the berries cold. And yes, you can feel safe in ordering and shipping Shari’s Berries during the warmer months. There is a cold pack and tons of insulation provided. I kind of wonder if the insulation even cost more than the berries themselves.

They were delicious and very obviously of a high quality. The chocolate coating was thick and yummy. I love the contrast of the rich chocolate against the cold, sweet strawberry. I favored the milk chocolate strawberries. My only issue was with the overly sugary little pink ribbons on two of the white chocolate covered strawberries. Though visually they were nice, they tasted too sweet and I tried to pick them off the strawberry.

Buy Prescription Sunglasses Online Cheap – I used Just Eyewear and had WAY too much glare

Love L732 Red Sun

Thinking about buying prescription sunglasses online? I highly recommend it. I was able to review a pair from Just Eyewear.

Update: Feb 2013 – I needed to come back and update this review. Thing is, I never wear these because even though I asked for the anti-glare feature, there is still way too much glare. I would never buy from this company.

As long as you have a recently updated eye exam handy, the process is fairly easy. You can save a lot of money by buying glasses online.

Love L732 Red Sun

With prescription sunglasses, you can even go a little bigger than you might normally go. But if you are worried about the size, you can also visit a brick and mortar store to try on styles and then write down the sizes (listed on the inside of the arm) that you liked and fit your face. And the best part is, once you’ve done this process once, it’s always going to be easy to do. If I decide to buy another pa ... Read More

mens t-shirts with cool designs

It’s hard to find shirts and hats that guys like, that you (the stylish female, or maybe you’re a stylish male…) also approve of. But I’ve found it in Old Guys Rule! That’s right, it’s time to talk about dudes again. But don’t be sad, it’s going to be painless. And you can bookmark this page or the website so that next time it’s Dad’s birthday, you’ll already be prepared with an idea of what to get him. (An idea vouched for by another Dad!)

I adore my Dad, so I love to get him gifts. (Plus, it’s mandatory for Christmas and birthdays! I always need ideas. Especially since he jokingly says he really has an entire birthday month, oh brother.) But I always have to remember that he has a big sense of humor. And if that’s true for your Dad, boyfriend, uncle, etc – then he will certainly enjoy the T-shirts and caps from Old Guys Rule.

My concern was that things might look too tacky, but I was wrong. They offer tons of products, especially ... Read More

Gifts for People who Love Horses (Deux Chevaux Candles Review: Apple and Graze)

apple candle

Entering the Deux Chevaux website is like really entering a whole new world. There, you connect with nature and animals (specifically – horses) in a creative and upscale way. They offer all sorts of items in their shop, but I received a couple of their scented soy candles. These are both great gift ideas for people who love horses. I’m going to focus on the candles, but I truly believe in this company so much that I’ll share as much as possible about them as a whole, too!

To get you into the right mood, here are two quotes that are on their website that I think are utterly perfect:

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” — Sir Winston Churchill

“Let a horse whisper in your ear and breathe on your heart. You will never regret it.” — Anonymous

There are six candle scents: Apple, Graze, Hay Field, Mash, Starlight, Tack

Even though a couple might sound peculiar to you if you aren’t heavily invested in the equestrian lifestyle, a quick read of the descriptions make them all sound appealing. I had a hard time deciding which two to smell up close, and ended up with Apple and Graze. The names are as peaceful as the scents. And the packaging is unique and special! (Always important if you’re gifting these to ... Read More

Dossage Fragrances Review (One perfume smells like Euphoria CK!)

dossage fragrances

Forget about matching a perfume and a cologne together, Dossage Fragrances has done the work for you!

I received four Dossage fragrances to review. The boxes and bottles are very French chic, with black and white swirls. There are no names for the fragrances, rather, there are numbers. And the idea is that each female perfume has a male cologne counterpart. So you can your boyfriend or husband can compliment each others scents by both wearing the same number.

I found that the one male/female number combination I sampled did compliment each other well. Of the four scents that I reviewed, only one would I not recommend. Let’s begin!

I had several people, aside from myself, also smell the scents.

No 8 Black Label for Him – Green leaves, sandalwood. “Inspired by: Santa Barbara, Marbella, and Australia. Dossage No. 8 for Him users are confident when they are on, challenged to live life to the fullest every minute. Eco-friendly iPad Case – positive review! – Uncommon Goods scores again!

eco friendly ipad case

There’s nothing ho-hum about the eco-friendly iPad case by XOB Upcycled from Uncommon Goods. Colorful, bright, and fun – you’ll love it!

Icebox Knitting (XOB = pronounced ZOB) also creates cozy hats, pillows, scarves, and accessories that are all upcycled.

I believe because this is a company from the mountains of Colorado they have two priorities distinct to them: making cozy and warm items, and creating colorful and bright items. That is, of course, in addition to their commitment to only creating upcycled (recycled) items. I think it’s great that they look into how they can create items by bits that would otherwise be discarded.

To get a look at their work up close, I was gifted an Ripstop Eco Friendly iPad case from Uncommon Goods. The fabrics used all look very new to me – with nylon on the outside and a soft fleece inside of the pouch. I do believe this will keep my iPad screen from getting scratched, although I’m aware that softer tablet cases are not as secure as hard ones (but that only matters depending on how much serious travel you plan on doing.)

Firmoo Reviews – Really displeased, cracked frame, loose screws…

firmoo optical reviews

I would absolutely not recommend this site to buy glasses online.

Update Feb 2013: I received two pairs of glasses from Firmoo. The first pair seemed great, until a week later and they weirdly had a big crack in the plastic frame. I had to e-mail the company a picture to prove it happened, and they sent me the exact same pair. Well, once again I had to go get these re-fitted at a brick and mortar store. The other problem I realized only after wearing these for about a month is that the mini screw driver they give you with the glasses isn’t an accident, their screws loosen all the time, and can just randomly fall out. I would not buy from them in the future, which is a pity because at least their lenses didn’t have a glare.

soap and glory reviews

In testing my first two Soap & Glory products ever (and isn’t it such a chic name?!), I found one product that is so wonderful that I can’t imagine living without it now.

Soap and Glory Clean Girls Review – Skin Softening Body Wash

Using the Soap & Glory Clean Girls Skin Softening Cream Body wash is a thoroughly luxurious experience. It smells really nice and the bottle is so cute. It lathers gently and leaves me feeling clean. I definitely like this product. The convenient pump dispenser makes it great for the shower. The body wash itself is this really pretty iridescent light pinky color. Divine!

Soap & Glory Clean Girls™ Skin Softening Cream Body Wash “Contains natural vanilla fruit and orchid extracts plus a built-in moisturising matrix. Scented with our Mist You Madly™ fragrance. Rub a handful of Clean, Girls onto slightly damp skin until it forms a thick, luxurious lather, and then rinse. Dr. Scholl’s Massaging Gel Inserts Review: ALMOST Perfect, Not Quite

Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel Insoles

I’m high on endorphins, so you’d think that would bias this Dr. Scholls Massaging Gel Inserts review. But it won’t. Because I both love and hate this product in the same breathe. I think it’s wonderful, and I think there are lots of ways it is poorly designed. And it also caused my shoes (which never  bother me) to have re-aligned themselves and given me a blister on my inner right ankle.

What’s Good:

They feel SO comfortable. And I know that they will reduce any foot pain. I’d wear these to a day at the museum or the zoo. Or if I worked on my feet all day. They should be mandatory for everyone. They’re so great. They just aren’t perfect yet.

What’s Bad:

You have to cut (or trim) it to the proper shoe size. While this is technically a great way to have a one-size-fits all product, I did not feel this was clearly labeled (it was on the packaging that I tore off to get to the product – meaning I had to go into the trash… yea.) For me, that wasn’t a huge deal. (You do need sharp scissors.) But I think of my Grandma (may she rest in peace) who used to always buy random stuff like this for herself and others. She would have bought this. And she would have had a lot of ... Read More
