Bargain News! Sweater Dresses on Sale
Monday, October 26th, 2009
I love sweater dresses. But sweaters are expensive. And dresses are expensive. So much sweater dresses are – you must be a genius because you guessed it – expensive. But I worked to find you sweater dresses on sale for under $100.
Sweater dresses for fall are perfect to wear all the time. You can also wear them for winter, these sweater dresses are great with boots and tights. Sweater dresses and tights? Love it. Sweater dresses and boots? Love it.
Victoria’s Secret is loaded with sweater dresses, but most of them are 1) Way too form fitting/sexy to want to wear without being self-conscious, 2) Way too expensive! This is why Victoria’s Secret Sweater Dresses are mostly a no-go for me. However I did find one that I like a lot and included down below, it’s a gorgeous chocolate brown color and looks like it would move well. It has enough detail to make it interesting, but it’s all in a solid color so you can layer it with accessories like crazy (rings, tights, boots, hats, whatever).

“How Do I Update My Look from Casual to Adult?”

Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson on The O.C. - Oh, how I miss that show.
Style Question: I currently find myself dressing like my style inspiration is Adam Brody on The OC, with Chuck Taylors, jeans, and crazy t-shirts as my staples. I’m still constantly mistaken for a college student, even though I graduated 5 years ago! How can I make my look a little more grown up and feminine but keep it casual? – Kerstin
Style Advice: Finding a new style approach without losing your personality is the KEY when trying to adapt a new style. Anyone could easily tell you a million different things to wear (“Oh, just plop on a cashmere sweater and some channel earrings!), but I doubt you’d be happy in them. That’s why this is an interesting question. The world may make you feel like you have to automatically start wearing certain kinds of clothing to define yourself, but that isn’t true. And at the same time it’s natural to feel like if you’re wearing fun cotton t-shirts every day, that you’re a ... Read More
Urban Outfit Discount: Urban Outfitters Dresses on Sale!
Friday, October 16th, 2009
Urban Outfitters makes great, chic clothing for teens and people in their 20′s. If you aren’t sure of Urban Outfit locations, you can always go to their website Urbn.com. The stores are full of funky jewelry, large leather handbags with fringe, candles that smell like papayas, neon pink alarm clocks shaped like owls, and the kind of clothing that instantly makes you feel more hip. Most urbn outfit dresses are upwards of $60.00, but there is a sale going on right now where tons and tons of dresses are on sale. That seems like a good occasion for shopping – or at least a good occasion to take a look and see what they have.
A lot of these dresses can be worn in the fall as long as you wear some textured tights and a cardigan over them (maybe even a wool hat). Others you may want simply because next Spring similar dresses will be on sale for $60.00 again, and you’ll have missed out on a deal. (Regret sucks, and I feel like I ALWAYS learn this the hard way.)

Bargain News! BCBG on Sale

BGCG Max Azria from hyku on Flickr
I’ve loved BCBG from even before what I knew much about the line. Max Azria has a daughter and her bedroom was featured in Seventeen Magazine when I was a teen who got that magazine. All of her clothing was mostly black and white, organized in a huge closet. And her room was mostly all white, except her Dad had encouraged her to paint her bedroom walls yellow… Anyway – I just remember loving her room and wishing my Dad was also a fashion designer. Which…would be hilarious because his idea of style is changing into clean jeans. Cue an eye roll here.
These days, BCBG Max Azria dresses are sought after for their style and fit. I really wish there was a BCBG Max Azria outlet near me, but alas there is not. But, shopping online has perks – like scouring for BCBG sale items!
I recommend shopping for items that you really love, don’t just buy something because it’s on sale. Classic pieces w ... Read More
Billie Piper “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” Styles to Steal

Secret Diary of a Call Girl
Billie Piper is someone I loved on Doctor Who, and now I love her on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The show is NOT as dirty as it sounds. It’s not PG, of course. It’s like Sex and the City, and who didn’t love that show? Well some people didn’t. And I didn’t like the Sex and the City movie.. but I digress!
Showtime put together a cute website for Secret Diary of a Call Girl, which included a style section. They show stuff Billie Piper’s character actually wore on the show. And I went through it to show you what stuff on the list is affordable in some way. Most of it is way too much, but you might be surprised at what you can still get. Either way, it’s fun to see the elements of her wardrobe!

Plaid patterns by mukluk on Flickr
Fall makes me think about lots of great things… new school notebooks, apple crisp (which I make myself!) and plaid. When I was younger I had little plaid skirts and wore actual knee socks. During the 90′s, flannel and plaid was popular with the entire 90′s grunge thing – and I remember I had one flannel shirt that I loooved. It was peachy with turquoise and if I knew where it was I swear I would still wear it.
But it’s okay, because right now plaid is so trendy for fall 09 that it’s impossible to find a store that isn’t stocking it. So the chances of me finding a new favorite plaid shirt is good. Plaid shirts for women are major right now. MAJOR!
There are lots of plaid shirts online to shop through. They’re virtual racks that let you think about what color combination for the shirt you might like while walking barefoot to your kitchen to get a bowl of Lucky Charms and think about what it’d be like to kiss Jude Law ... Read More

Fall is a wonderful time, especially (in my opinion) if you live in an area where the leaves turn gorgeous colors of red and purple, you can visit apple orchards, pick your own pumpkin from a patch if you’re so inclined, and wear some cozy cardigans. The one thing that sometimes baffles me about Fall is what kind of jacket to wear. It’s waaaay too early for heavy winter jackets.
My answer to the question is the same answer to “What kind of jacket do I wear for Spring?” and that answer is: trench coats! I especially like the longer, belted trench coats. There are a surprising amount of variations, though. Even more surprising? There are plenty trench coats under $50.00, yay.
Summer Dresses on Sale

"Time to shoooop?" asks cutie cat. Photo by StephenMitchell on Flickr
Since Fall is here, stores are rushing to get their summer dresses off the shelves completely. That works out in your favor. Because the only thing that’s more refreshing than cute summer dresses is cute summer dresses on sale. Obviously it’s best to avoid anything trendy, which can be tricky. If you’ve been eying something all season and it’s finally on sale you will feel a strange (okay, maybe it’s not so strange) and strong pull to pick it up now that it’s at a reduced price.
However, keep in mind that this was what you loved, and saw on other people, this season. Style Tip: Make sure to honestly ask yourself if it was a passing trend that you might not be wearing next year.
To eliminate confusion I suggest focusing on summer dresses that are basic – something with a cute color and good fit at a better price than you’d normally find. I’ve rounded up five dresses summer dresses ... Read More

Ruffle Neck Bandage Sweater Top : Under $20.00
I’ve been noticing a lot of ruffled sweaters, ruffled cardigans, ruffled shirts… ruffles are really taking over! And it’s not that ruffles are bad, not at all. I think they’re very cute, often romantic (cue a dreamy sigh here), and a nice way to make an otherwise boring shirt have some added flair. And really, who doesn’t like some more flair? (Occasionally some celebrities go too far with the flair… see: Bai Ling in most anything she’s ever worn.)
