Ever wanted to get a sneak peek of a celebs’ Christmas wish list? Well, now you can, thanks to our friends over at Piperlime.com. The online shopping store is working with The Art of Elysium, which is a nonprofit group that helps children through music and art. These Holiday Gift Lists will feature Brooke Shields, Rachel Bilson, Rashida Jones, and one of my favorites – Kristen Bell. Each week between Nov. 23 and Dec. 31, Piperlime will share a new celebrity gift list. First up is the stylish champion of the red carpets, Rachel Bilson.
Kristen Bell was recently spotted out and about shopping for flowers. Can you spot all of the SMART elements in this candid photo?
#1 Bend it like Bell: She’s bending at the knee’s! Seriously, it’s so much less strain than if she’d just bent down over at waist.
#2 Work with children and pets: Bell is taking time to talk to strangers – and she gets bonus points for taking time to interact with a kid. Talking and spending time with kids, pets or babies can brighten the outlook on your day. And that smile looks genuine to me!
#3 Block the glare: Sunglasses help if you’re an A-list celebrity who doesn’t want to draw too much attention to yourself, admittedly we may not have this same problem.
#4 Be green: Like any responsible shopper, Bell is using an eco-friendly reusable bag for her shopping.
#5 Versatile jewelry: Notice her statement necklace? That’s something she can wear with fancier stuff, too. Adding it to her simple outfit dresses it up a bit.

I used to have a scrapbook of cute hair ideas using magazine pulls that I’d arrange in a binder. Yea…I’m kind of weird. (Is it weird I also had fashion, decor, and makeup idea binders?) But, whatever! It’s helpful. Sometimes you forget what to do with your hair other than the basic things you ALWAYS do. One hairdo I like that is SO easy to do is something that Kristen Bell has actually worn on the illustrious red carpet.
The technique for the hairstyle is to pull up the middle front section of your hair and clip it – either to the side or straight back. (This is a great hairstyle to use for showing off earrings.) Then you collect the remaining hair and pull it all over to the side and loop it there. You can make it really casual by just using an elastic band and looping your hair in a half pony-tail. If you curl your hair first the entire effect will look a bit fancier. And you can also use one of those fabric flowers on an elastic band to make it look great.
A variation on this is to pull your hair back in a clip as I already said, and then separate the remaining hair into low pigtails anchored to the front, under your ears.
Yet ANOTHER variation is to use a headband instead of clipping the top part of your hair back. Follow as ... Read More
We know that magazines photoshop. And now that they know that we know – they’re taking greater liberties. Such is the case with the December W cover with Demi Moore. Fellow bloggers are calling it the worst photoshopped cover ever. The quest for perfection led someone to overlook the fact that they COMPLETLEY REMOVED HER LEFT HIPBONE in the process of making her appeal to us all as the unattainable perfection we should all want. So this means we have to remove entire bones now? I’m NOT signing up for that, guys! I also refuse to stop eating all carbs! (But I AM focusing more on whole grains – go me?)
How did no one miss this mistake before it went to print?
Heidi Klum hosted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year, and while she didn’t walk in the show she looked amazing with her post-baby body. Indeed, it’s only been six weeks since she PUSHED A HUMAN OUT OF HER BODY. Yowza. (It’s her fourth child, a girl named Lou. Which I think is an unfortunate name for a baby girl. Why do celebrities make everything so difficult?)
While it’s pretty impossible for people to make Heidi look ugly, they can still put her in downright hideous clothing. And at the VS fashion show – that’s what they did. She opened the show wearing…what you’d imagine a high school teen to produce if she only had ten minutes and ten bucks. Heidi – come on. You wouldn’t let this pass on Project Runway!

Guess what? I utilize the library a whole heck of a lot. Seriously. I mean, I buy books (when I know I’ll want them and want to reread them) and DVDs (ditto) and a whole slew of things. I also have Netflix. But sometimes it’s great to just order a bunch of things and then have them all there for you when you go to the library. (I’m pretty sure every library has that function now.) Also, it always encourages me to be diverse in the things I pick. I get self-concious, and I don’t want a librarian judging me if I’m only getting a ton of DVDs to watch. So I always make a point to get a variety of things. And libraries offer lots of things. Music, Movies, Magazines, Books, Books on tape…
Reasons to use the library: You save money, you’ll try new things in terms of what you’ll watch and read, you’ll encourage yourself to read more, you’ll possibly m ... Read More
Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6″ Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation) @ Amazon $259. The Amazon kindle is great because it’s as thin as a magazine but it can hold 1,5000 books (which is more than my bookcases hold). Apparently the kindle has no glare like most screens have, and it even has a super long battery life. Still, wouldn’t you miss holding the weight of a book? This has to be great for tech people or people who travel a lot.
If you’re like me you have really great mango lotion, and you don’t think that you like Sci Fi. But let me refresh your memory (and mine) and show you that we actually DO like some sci fi stuff. Because Amazon has dvds on sale where Sci Fi DVDs (or Blu-Ray) is on sale up to 55% off, now is a great time to shop for yourself or for others in terms of Christmas gifts. Early Christmas sales make life so much easier as long as you’re willing to shop early for Christmas.
