Kristen Bell Gives Us a Hairdo Idea
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
I used to have a scrapbook of cute hair ideas using magazine pulls that I’d arrange in a binder. Yea…I’m kind of weird. (Is it weird I also had fashion, decor, and makeup idea binders?) But, whatever! It’s helpful. Sometimes you forget what to do with your hair other than the basic things you ALWAYS do. One hairdo I like that is SO easy to do is something that Kristen Bell has actually worn on the illustrious red carpet.
The technique for the hairstyle is to pull up the middle front section of your hair and clip it – either to the side or straight back. (This is a great hairstyle to use for showing off earrings.) Then you collect the remaining hair and pull it all over to the side and loop it there. You can make it really casual by just using an elastic band and looping your hair in a half pony-tail. If you curl your hair first the entire effect will look a bit fancier. And you can also use one of those fabric flowers on an elastic band to make it look great.
A variation on this is to pull your hair back in a clip as I already said, and then separate the remaining hair into low pigtails anchored to the front, under your ears.
Yet ANOTHER variation is to use a headband instead of clipping the top part of your hair back. Follow as ... Read More
Shakira will be Furious with Demi Moore

Got hips? Demi don't!
We know that magazines photoshop. And now that they know that we know – they’re taking greater liberties. Such is the case with the December W cover with Demi Moore. Fellow bloggers are calling it the worst photoshopped cover ever. The quest for perfection led someone to overlook the fact that they COMPLETLEY REMOVED HER LEFT HIPBONE in the process of making her appeal to us all as the unattainable perfection we should all want. So this means we have to remove entire bones now? I’m NOT signing up for that, guys! I also refuse to stop eating all carbs! (But I AM focusing more on whole grains – go me?)
Hips don't lie? OH YES THEY DO. Shakira was WRONG.
How did no one miss this mistake before it went to print?

This Time, Heidi Klum is the Fashion Roadkill!

It's...hideous! HIDE. Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage.com
Heidi Klum hosted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year, and while she didn’t walk in the show she looked amazing with her post-baby body. Indeed, it’s only been six weeks since she PUSHED A HUMAN OUT OF HER BODY. Yowza. (It’s her fourth child, a girl named Lou. Which I think is an unfortunate name for a baby girl. Why do celebrities make everything so difficult?)
While it’s pretty impossible for people to make Heidi look ugly, they can still put her in downright hideous clothing. And at the VS fashion show – that’s what they did. She opened the show wearing…what you’d imagine a high school teen to produce if she only had ten minutes and ten bucks. Heidi – come on. You wouldn’t let this pass on Project Runway!
I think we all recall “Oh my God, she’s fashion roadkill!” where Heidi was doing the stomping and Carrie Bradshaw was the victim.

Reasons to Use the Library

Books in every color of the rainbow. Photo by candiedwomanire on Flickr
Guess what? I utilize the library a whole heck of a lot. Seriously. I mean, I buy books (when I know I’ll want them and want to reread them) and DVDs (ditto) and a whole slew of things. I also have Netflix. But sometimes it’s great to just order a bunch of things and then have them all there for you when you go to the library. (I’m pretty sure every library has that function now.) Also, it always encourages me to be diverse in the things I pick. I get self-concious, and I don’t want a librarian judging me if I’m only getting a ton of DVDs to watch. So I always make a point to get a variety of things. And libraries offer lots of things. Music, Movies, Magazines, Books, Books on tape…
Reasons to use the library: You save money, you’ll try new things in terms of what you’ll watch and read, you’ll encourage yourself to read more, you’ll possibly make friends, you’ll become well versed in things you love and happier to be that way.

Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6″ Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation) @ Amazon $259. The Amazon kindle is great because it’s as thin as a magazine but it can hold 1,5000 books (which is more than my bookcases hold). Apparently the kindle has no glare like most screens have, and it even has a super long battery life. Still, wouldn’t you miss holding the weight of a book? This has to be great for tech people or people who travel a lot.
Moon in my Room @ Amazon $18.69. This is a great Christmas gift for kids or teens. It comes with a remote control, an audio CD that gives you ... Read More
