A Gilmore Girls Inspired Winter of Snuggles

gilmore girls

It’s time to hunker down for winter. Something that puts us in a good mood during the cold months? Watching Gilmore Girls! Sometime’s it’s incredibly smart to think like a Gilmore: WWAGGD? (What Would a Gilmore Girl Do?) The Gilmore gals always put a positive spin on things, and they celebrated life, their bonds, and just about anything! Don’t you think it’s time to relax, induldge, and celebrate being a gal?

I’ve prepared a post with some essentials! You’ll need great pajamas, some DVDs, some goodies to munch on (Lorelai and Rory always had snacks!) slippers, and maybe even a stuffed animal if it’s super cute?

Soma Intimates makes everything with amazing “feel good fabric” which is exceptionally soft. I have a pair of their pajamas and I can vouch for this – they are amazing and when I put them on I find reasons to stay in them for as long as possible. Who says I can’t do the dishes, walk the treadmill, and organize my sockdrawer in my pjs?!

Luckily, Soma Intimates just so happens to be having ... Read More

sjp morgans

The new movie with Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant Did You Hear About the Morgans? doesn’t have a soundtrack, but it has a lot of amazing music. All sorts of old, classic tunes. And it’s smart to educate on great music that isn’t on the top 40 radio stations (not that we listen to much radio these days). There are 23 songs in the movie, and here they are:

Fools – Diane Birch Concerto for Oboe And Orchestra In C Major, K.314 – Vienna Mozart Ensemble Going Up the Country – Canned Heat Twang – George Strait Rollin And Tumblin – Bob Dylan True Love Ways – Buddy Holly Attack on The Indian Village From The Searchers – Max Steiner Why Don’t You Love Me – Hank Williams Sr. The Long Message – Clyde Lawrence I’ve Got You Memorized – Ivy Midnight Rider – The Allman Brothers Band Please Don’t Leave Me – Vic Clay and the Retro Wranglers Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea – George Harrison Saturday Night – Bay City Rollers What To Do With Michael – Candy But ... If Life Were a Musical…

These legs know how to shimmy and shake. Photo by Tornatore on Flickr.

Did you watch The Sing-Off on NBC? Yea, I didn’t either. I mean I did a LITTLE. Enough that I was able to know what I liked and go on Youtube and find clips for you. I’m good like that, tcha. See, singing (watching but especially singing yourself) has been proven by doctors to make you happier. I don’t know why, it just does. Even if you’re a bad singer (which I am – I’m terrible like you wouldn’t believe) it can still improve your mood. I think it has something to do with using endorphins (or making them?) and expressing yourself. Expressing yourself always feels good. And wouldn’t it be cool if your life was a musical and as things happened, people surrounded you and musical acts took place?

Like, you wake up one morning and realize everything is going your way and your Prozac must really be working? Then this song would be great…Mr. Blue Sky (Ensemble).

Reese Witherspoon says "YEAAAAH!"

The above picture of Reese Witherspoon really conveys a sense of confidence, and who among us doesn’t need more of that? I know that I do. Like, heaps of it. Heaps upon heaps! But we all have things that make us feel more confident. I’m going to share with you things that make me feel a little bit more strong.

1. One Angry Dwarf and Five Solemn Faces

The Ben Folds Five song One Angry Dwarf and Five Solemn Faces from the Whatever and Ever Amen CD. The lyrics are empowering when you sing them loudly in the shower. Just sayin’. Singing in general makes me feel more empowered.

chick flicks

The snazzy Official Best of Fest gift sets aim to show you the best films you’ve never seen, or even heard about. I received a copy of the Chick Flicks gift set to review, but I’ve naturally had to take a couple days to watch enough of it to talk about.

These are substantial films that really make you feel.

Two disc’s are included. The first one has short films, and the second disc has two feature films. I was surprised by the short films, because while I thought they might all be feel-good, happy, mushy things – they were actually mostly dramas that kind of…well, there was a need for Kleenex! They’re ‘Chick Flicks’ in the sense that I can’t think of many guys who would appreciate watching these the way a woman could, but there’s nothing slap-happy involved here. These are substantial films that really make you feel.

I especially enjoyed the films The Republic of Love, Gafa, Charlotte’s Red an ... Read More
