Lea Michele Beauty Secrets

Stylist recently had an interview with Lea Michele (Glee) and she gave some excellent beauty tips!

Naturally, as a spokesperson for Dove Hair, Michele mentioned that she loves Dove haircare. If you recall, Jessica gave a Dove Daily Moisture Therapy Review and also vouched that it’s amazing.

When it comes to products she loves Michele told Stylist, “I can’t leave home without my Laura Mercier concealer and I have this incredible Chanel lip balm that moisturizes my lips.” She mentioned she also uses tinted moisturizers because all you need is “good skin and a nice fresh face and then you look good.” She also mentioned she loves Kate Somerville products, Clarisonic products (specifically the Clarisonic Face Brush) and AMOREPACIFIC products.

Admitting that she loves the bohemian style that Nicole Richie has, Michele said, ” I want to wear a long dress every day. That’s all I want to do. I want to wear a long, flowy summer dress all day long with flats.” Maxi dresses are still in! I bet Michele loves House of Harlow stuff.

grace kelly hair how to

Now that I’ve shown you examples of tons of different high bun hairstyles for 2010 (with the directions for how to do a high bun hairstyle), it’s time to show you the tools you’ll need to achieve this look. Would you try to make a cake without the right ingredients or tools? (I would, but that’s because I’m a horrible cook – baker…whatever-er. I am basically not allowed in the kitchen!) The same goes for your hair. If you want to really do this look right, you need to do more than just half-try. So check out what you have around the house lurking in the untouched cabinets (you might discover your beloved Essie nail polish you thought your sister had stolen!), or see if there’s something worth making an investment in if you like the top bun hairstyle.

The shopping list: Volumizing products! This can be volumizing shampoo, volumizing conditioner, volumizin ... Read More

Hayden Panettiere vs. Emmy Rossum: Which Pedicure is Priceless?

emmy rossum style guide

Spring and Summer let you show off your toes – so why not let your toes be worth seeing with some pretty polish?

I have two very different ends of the color spectrum for you to consider – and both are worthy of your toes (or little piggies)!

Emmy Rossum Style Guide:

Spending your summer in NYC? Emmy Rossum played the part of a Grecian Ballerina at The Natural History Museum Dance event. Of course, with her gracefully long limbs and porcelain skin tone, it’s hard to imagine her as anything but. To pop against her skin, she used a berry red color on for a pedicure. They match her black shoes in a very classic way. They also lend a bit of drama – oooh! Try: POPbeauty Nail Glam in Strawberry $14

Spring & Summer 2010 Hair Trend: High Bun Hairstyle

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

high buns 1

The high bun hairstyle has emerged as a top spring summer hair trend for 2010. Celebrities like Billie Piper, Katie Cassidy, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Bosworth, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Alba have all sported the high top bun at events this year – and there are no plans of stopping!

Every high bun style affords you the luxury of using different variables to pick a style that not only compliments your face, but that you feel you can confidently do to your hair. You can have a more contained top knot or a large bun with tons of volume. Another way to change things up is to decide at what angle your bun will hit against your head. A ‘high bun’ can be at the top of your head, near the back, or straight upwards to the sky. Adding styling details with clips and decorative braids all help your hair resemble a work of art. And if you spend more than 20 minutes on it, no one should dare say your hair is anything less. (Permission to glare at them: granted.)

Now, remember how I said that none of this information is helpful unless you find a way to use one of these buns on your ow hair? The longer and heavier your hair is, the less likely you’ll be able to do a small bun that kisses the very center-top of your head a la Kate Bosworth. That’ ... Read More

Using Your Scalp to Treat Your Depression? You Can Certainly Try, I Will Be

scalp treatments

Your scalp is like the overlooked member of the family that never gets any attention. But I’m thinking about it today because I was looking at the slideshows on MedicineCabinet (which are so gross, omg – I should not have done that!). I came across one of the more harmless slideshows –  which was about your hair and scalp.

One of the pages mentioned that massaging your scalp will really help your brain. “Your scalp is covered with nerve endings that make it super-sensitive to touch. Rubbing your scalp increases blood flow and releases tension. It also triggers your brain to release feel-good hormones like dopamine and serotonin.” Ding, ding, ding, I love anything that mentions ways to get my serotonin triggered! This won’t cure depression, but it can’t hurt. Unless you start massaging your scalp too hard, because that would hurt.

Let’s Hear it for your Glee-Worthy Hair! NEW Dove Therapy System Products are fit for a Gleek!

glee hair

I already know you guys have noticed the fashion and style from the ladies on Glee, but what about their hair? Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) always has such glossy locks, even though her hair is so impossibly (enviously) long. But it’s not just the characters who need to have this nice hair. The actresses of Glee have to maintain the health of their hair on a constant basis since they are  always getting it styled, dyed, curled, and put under strong spotlights (there’s always a price when you’re the star!). Their stressed out hair needs a way to kick back. And the equivalent of going to the hair spa is using these new Dove Daily Treatment Conditioners.

If you’ve paid attention to any of the Glee promo’s going on lately, you have probably noticed that Glee and Dove have paired up together. This spring, Dove is the Official Hair Care Sponsor of the Glee Live! Concert Tour! So if you’re wondering why Dianna Agron’s hair is so bouncy and shiny – it’s Dove she has to thank. And I bet she does, because she seems very polite and sweet.

Think your hair doesn’t need some TLC?

Dove conditioners have had a total m ... Read More
