The best lotion for dry skin does two things: absorbs quickly (is non greasy) and truly moisturizing. It’s not easy (being green – or) to find both of these items in one lotion. I recently tried the NEW Vaseline® Total Moisture® lotion and discovered for myself that it does both jobs. Which is wonderful – because I use lotion every single day, many times in the course of just one day! (Who doesn’t?)

Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion Reviews:

1. The Cocoa Radiant (Brown bottle) had a faint smell of coconut (I think) but not a lot. I wish there was more becuase I am obsessed with that smell.
2. The Aloe Fresh lotion (Green bottle) had a definite “fresh” aloe scent, and it was really lovely.
3. The other option (Yellow bottle) was my least favorite during my sniff-test, and wasn’t going for any particular scent.

But all three actually did work. They absorbed quickly (so important for hands that type all day on a keyboard, feet that are in sandals or socks, i.e. my life! everyone’s life, probably) and they felt really good. And after wearing the lotion, my hands and feet felt softer so I knew it was working.

I used to sketch hairstyles out, but never with such elegance. I love that the focus is all on the back and it really shows you how certain hairstyles are put together. While I don’t think these were meant to be instructive, they still are.

Now THIS is intricate… oh boy. From the back of her head I think she seems like a very nice person, maybe a British gal who knits and drinks mint chocolate tea.

Here I immediately think of a Scandinavian woman who is a bit of a punk.

This woman would be a French citizen, maybe because her hair reminds me of a croissant.

This makes me think of an American woman who lives in Maine and makes seafood stews.

On the left I think of a ballerina, but also like an Asian film star on the red carpet. On the right I think of a ballerina again, or a celebrity like Diane Kruger on the red carpet.

I wasn’t sure that this was an issue for a lot of people until I went a a’googling around. Apparently plenty of people search for “underarms dark,” and ”underarms dark home remedies.” But you don’t need a home remedy when you have something that will work. And don’t be embarrassed to admit you have any discoloration under your arms, because it can happen from wearing a tight top or a sleeveless shirt where your skin touches itself and has friction.

The clincher: And really, much as we want it smooth, we want it to look good if we’re gonna wear a tank top!

Dove Clear Tone Review

My underarms aren’t too dark, but I do deal with this issue in a spot on my face and it drives me CRAZY. Seriously, crazy! And I also crazy moisturize that area all the time. I think the same idea here is that the Dove Clear Tone will moisturize your underarms in the way that most anti-perspirant/deodorants would never even think to.

I used a finger to rub some of this formula on my discolored spot and I do think it actually helped after five days of using it. Of course, this product is not meant for the face but for underarms, but I’ll try anything.

I’m a major fan of the MAC Mineralize Eye Shadows now. The impact you get, so quickly, is impressive. That’s quality! Yes, you pay a bit more, but I think it’s worth it. We all know MAC makes some wonderful products.

MAC SUPERSWEET REVIEW

While I picked up Supersweet, I’ve since been wishing I had also gotten Pink Union or Love Cycle. I’m pretty addicted to how easily these apply because I don’t like spending a ton of time on makeup all the time. Often, I’ll spend the time and it’ll look like I’ve put forth almost no effort. Anyway. The reason I wish I had the others is only because I find Supersweet to work so well.

I’m a bit disappointed with the brown (a brown/gray) section of Supersweet, it’s not a lot and even applied wet it doesn’t seem to be very dark on my fair skin. I want more of a dark compliment! Wah. But the frosty pink works as a great base shimmer, highlighter, and layered (or wet) to be a very strong, albeit pale, pink. And I have more of the pink in my palette, so it works out fine.

The one other issue is that there is some fall out with Supersweet, which means if you wear glasses you’ll get some of the shimmer flecks on them.

On the best side you don’t even need a primer, and it still has color that lasts. I love that.

Soft pink and a light taupe are perfect for spring.

My BFF picked up the Mineralize eye shadow in the fun-named Cinderfella. (Black shimmer!)

While there both of the makeup artists at the counter (who were super nice, which you don’t expect from MAC all the time) were wearing the new blue “Love Cycle.” They mentioned it was all they were wearing on their eyes (plus mascara.) And it looked so fabulous.

How To Remove Glitter Nail Polish without Foil

1. Pour some of your polish remover into the cap. Then dip your nail in the liquid and leave it there for about 35 seconds.
2. Instead of using cotton balls or cotton rounds, use the tougher and more durable felt.
3. Repeat the first two steps as needed.
4. Rinse hands. Apply hand lotion. Because the remover can hurt your cuticles and make them feel dry, try something that I love – Burt’s Bee’s Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream works and it’s fabulous. If you have one you prefer that you know works, then use that.

How To Remove Glitter Nail Polish with Foil

1. Cut up your pieces of aluminum foil.
2. Take small pieces of cotton rounds and cut them in half to form half moon shapes. This way you won’t be wasting anything.
3. Get one of the rounds wet with your nail polish remover (fairly heavily) and put it over one of your nails.
4. Place a cut piece of aluminum foil over the cotton round, and wrap it around your nail/top of finger.
5. Let sit for 5 minutes while you watch TV.
6. Pull cotton, aluminum foil (and polish!) off by wiggling it off.
7. If there are extra bits of glitter, use the cotton you’ve already used and rub off the extra. Focus more on letting the remover product work than just trying to use effort.
8. Throw out your trash. Rinse hands, apply hand lotion!

The introduction reminds you of the reasons why procrastination doesn’t help you. I do feel like a lot of the techniques are things we’ve heard over the years and we know we want to do, but forget about easily. I did agree with everything mentioned.

This is written and referred to as a “report” and it’s definietly something that’s dry without a personable writing voice. But that means you can get through it quickly, and re-read it whenever you find yourself slipping back into procrastination. The author is definietly someone who has researched things, comes across as intelligent, and has outlined everything to be absorbed very easily.

I do think that for this to improve it should have had more of a personal approach and more examples so that it becomes especially memorable in your mind, and becomes something you want to re-read. It’s definitely worth one read, and luckily it’s a very low price. I also think that there should be an “about the author” bit. When reading I wanted to know who was Trevor, what is his job and what are his qualifications, that kind of stuff.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Hair Tutorial

The idea for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show hair was for it to have body and be tousled and glamorous but no tight curls allowed. The hair for the 2011 show was done by Orlando Pita.

1: Curl hair with a 1-inch or 1 1/4-inch barrel curling iron. As you do this make sure you make the curls turn outward (or alternate, having your hair closest to your face turning outward first. And don’t be afraid to muss up your hair after you’ve curled it. Perfection is boring.) Normally you alternate curling inward and outward, and the hair towards your face is always supposed to be curled inward. But this is a little bit more rebellious of a look. It also helps give the movement in the hair as the VS models walk the runway.

2: Get volume and texture with the addition of the VS So Sexy Style Clean & Go Dry Shampoo ($14, victoriassecret.com) and then use a shine spray. I find that I don’t need to use a shine spray anymore now that I use this fantastic blow dryer with a powerful motor for my annoyingly thick hair (listen, yes it IS annoying when you shower in the morning and then you have wet hair in the winter that needs to be dried before you leave.)

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Makeup Look

“Enough with the false lashes. We used to do a lot of fakeness: false lashes, fake tan, blah, blah, blah. This year we kill everything. No more fakeness.” Except for the fake breasts, huh?

Start with your face and cheeks

MAKEUP: face time!
1: Skin was prepped with the VS PRO Airbrush FX Face Primer SPF 20 ($18, victoriassecret.com) to create a supple canvas for makeup to glide on. Any face primer will work, of course.
2: Apply tinted moisturizer (Neutrogena makes a nice one) and then use a concealer for problem areas. (I prefer to use mineral makeup so you only need to use the foundation with a concealer brush. The EcoTools concealor brush is amazing, btw. Perfect for spots and under the eye.)
3: Apply VS Baked Mineral Bronzing Powder in Glitterati ($16, victoriassecret.com) over the face, especially over the top of your forehead, the temples, the cheekbones and your jawline.
4: Pink Blush should be applied on the apples of your cheeks and then swirled upwards towards your temples.
5: To ensure you look like a living angel just dust VS Brilliant Shimmer Shadow in Gold Dust ($12, victoriassecret.com) onto temples and along the tops of your cheekbones. I suspect this might be a step too far if you’re not going to be on a runway, though.

MAKEUP: eyes!
1: Eye shadow primer. Always important to keep your eye shadow from creasing! I use Senna as my winter eyes primer because it’s thick and it works.
2: Liquid highlighter under eyes to cancel out dark undereyes seems like an unnecessary step after concealer, but it’s what the angels had done to them.
3: Sweep some VS Brilliant Shimmer Shadow in Gold Dust ($12, victoriassecret.com) onto your brow bones and the inner corners of the eyes. You can also use any mineral eyeshadow to get the same great pigment and shimmer. Use it wet for evenmore concentrated color.

4: Black liquid eyeliner is applied to your upper lashline, starting at the inner corner and extending slightly beyond the outer corner for a slight upward cat-eye wing. Keep it natural. Less is more.
5: Plenty of volumizing and lengthening mascara in black on top and bottom lashes. I would forgo the bottom lashes, though.

MAKEUP: lips service!
1: Exfoliate lips with lip scrub or your toothbrush bristles. Get the dead skin gone.
2: Use VS Perfect Lipstick in Whisper (a pink champagne nude which looks totally blah until you wear it, I think.) ($13, victoriassecret.com)
3: Apply VS Lip Gloss is Sublime (a sheer coral) ($12, victoriassecret.com) or VS Sparkling Lip Gloss in Delight (a sheer sparkly pink) ($13, victoriassecret.com), “concentrating on the center of the mouth for added fullness and shine.”

MAKEUP for your body!
