Pink and Orange Earrings: You CAN Pull off this Color Combination!
Wednesday, November 9th, 2011
Orange and pink are not the easier color combination to make work. So it’s a challenge! It’s a She’s Smart first (like a Project Runway first, which it seems like they have every episode, thus defeating the impact…)
(I’m going to wax poetic for a moment, don’t mind me!) Like a brilliant sunset, pink and orange are colors that can be vibrant or meld together like a watercolor of warmth. They’re daring colors on their own, and even though I’m not a daring person, I think it’s okay to use them both at once – on occasion.

Stylish Friendship Bracelets by Ettika
Friday, November 4th, 2011
Mindy Kaling mentioned how cute this one Ettika Bracelet is (pictured top left on collage), and it inspired me to re-examine stylish friendship bracelets. See, I don’t believe in anything tacky or over the top. Fashionable and subtle? That’s my bag. And Ettika makes tons of bracelts – friendship and not – that are perfect to pile on your wrists and share with friends. My thought on friendship bracelets is that if you and your friend have the same kind/one in different colors, it totally counts. The only problem you have there is if your friend doesn’t jive with your style. Of course, Ettika offers all sorts of styles. Some are more romantic while others are more boho.

Friday, September 30th, 2011
Taylor Swift was out and about looking charming in a vintage inspired Anthropologie dress (aren’t they all vintage inspired?) and cardigan. The round toe heels with bows are by Nine West and called the Alice Shoes. Larger sizes are available from 6 pm, here in cream and here in gray. I wonder if they are referring to Alice in Wonderland? Taylor does kind of remind me of that classic heroine. And yes, I think Alice was a heroine. She was brave when flowers were talking to her, and everything! I’d want a xanax asap!

Get your retro fix with Pan Am Bags!
PAN AM - Passion, jealousy and espionage... They do it all - and they do it at 30,000 feet. The style of the 1960s, the energy and excitement of the Jet Age and a drama full of sexy entanglements deliciously mesh in this thrilling and highly-original new series. (ABC/PATRICK HARBRON)
Pan Am Bags are going to have a surge in popularity, I predict, now that there’s the new Pan Am TV series on ABC starring Christina Ricci, Mike Vogel and Kelli Garner.

Shopping Bucket Bags: The Trend You’ll Embrace Easily
Friday, September 23rd, 2011
Say “hello, there, sexy” to the bucket bag! It’s returning as a hot trend at the tail end of 2011 – and I’m sure we’ll see it more in 2012. What is a bucket bag, you ask? Look for a drawstring that kind of pulls the bag together.
People say this was an 80′s trend. I recall mini backpacks as a thing in the early 90′s, but I was too young in the 80′s to know much about fashion other than to know Madonna was (and apparently still is, even with her golem arms) a fashion icon. Permed hair (which, thank God, I didn’t have), jelly shoes, – that’s the 80′s for me. The 90′s gave me stirrup pants and uh, why am I admitting all of this to you? Let’s focus on Bucket Bags!

Monday, September 19th, 2011
I had the chance to review the Genuine Jade 18K Gold Plated Sterling Silver Necklace from Susan B. What is SusanB about? The site is about affordable, expensive-looking jewelry that makes a stylish statement.
“Your online access to exquisite fashion jewelry- classic style, new trends & exclusive designer accessories- all at prices you can afford. Looking great isn’t as expensive as you think! There’s no mistaking a woman of style…she makes an entrance. Turns heads. Gets compliments. All without any apparent effort. She knows she doesn’t need to spend a million to look like a million. That’s what style is.” Big name designers carried on the site include Kenneth Jay Lane and Betty Carre.
This Jade necklace is a very nice piece that walks the line of bold and soft. The soft green color keeps it looking classic, while the size of the necklace is exactly what you want – it’s not too small that it fades into your skin but it’s not so large that you feel self-conscious trying to pull it off. I love that it matches a lot of things, has a 2 inch extender chain for varying length, and people notice it right away when I’m wearing it. That’s what you want from a good piece of jewelry! You want that reaction of “that’s so pretty, where did y ... Read More
MMS Design Studio Bags: Why I Love(d) Mine (Update: Hinges Break a LOT)
Monday, September 12th, 2011
I took a trip to Marshalls last week and picked up a perfect, perfect bag. It’s a MMS Design Studio bag. The retail cost was $55.00 and i got it for just $29.99.
EDIT: So, the hinges on this bag have broken TWICE. This speaks, to me, of shotty workmanship and I don’t think I’d buy another MMS Design Studio Bag again.
Why I love this bag is because it’s not overly big, but it fits nicely over my shoulder and stays there with a sturdy (and smart) double strap. The zipper pulls are large, flat and silver (aka stylish), and the pockets are lined in a sweet black and white print. The colors of the leather are also deeply and richly hued. It feels absolutely sturdy and looks fashionable, and there’s nothing I don’t like about it. I suspect the brand does all sorts of great stuff. Have you seen other MMS bags? I haven’t seen a ton, actually. But I hope to see more in the future.
I wouldn’t have been surprised if the retail price had said it was more like $70.00. But for the price of a bag you could get at Target (and I don’t knock Target as a whole, except their bags are awfully pretty flimsy) I got one that had both the look and feel up a much more expensive bag from a department store. MMS label even has a fun logo with the scrollwork stuff. All in all: A+ until further notice.

Minka Kelly Jewelry Style: Copy the Looks
Friday, August 12th, 2011
Minka Kelly’s style is about to get on your radar as this former Friday Night Lights actress has taken a leading role in Charlie’s Angels. This show looks all kinds of cheesy and crazy and I suspect it might get canceled. But, who knows! It might be awesome and fun and be on for years. Either way, it gave me the perfect excuse to check out what Kelly’s been wearing these days and I noticed she’s got a few really amazing pieces of jewelry in her rotation. So, without further adieu (and lots more of me pretending I’m French) here are three Minka Kelly jewelry pieces that I think you guys might love.

Olivia Palermo Style: Her Can’t Miss Purple Pumps
Monday, July 25th, 2011
If Carrie Bradshaw and Charlotte York had to design a shoe together, this would be it.
Olivia Palermo was in attendance at Stephane Rolland Haute Couture Fall 2011/ 2012 show in Paris Fashion Week. She looked pretty in a floral Zara dress and her Lulu Frost statement necklace and feathered bag, but the piece that really caught my attention were the fun-but-still-understated ruffled purple Charlotte Olympia “Paloma” platforms.
These are just…perfect. They have little extras that make them special, but they’re not too wild. They’re high fashion. I love the details of the ruffles and this royal purple color with great shine, and the contrast piping with the platform, and even the bottom of the soles. They’re feminine-meets-glamorous.
Olivia Palermo 2011 Style showcases mixing florals with metals.
I think this calls for a CLOSER look at more of what Charlotte Olympia shoes can offer us:
