Amanda Seyfried, she-of-the-hypnotizing-eyes, is on the cover of InStyle Hair right now. And you have to admit, it’s hard not to want some nice Amanda Seyfried hair of your very own (we know you’d treat it right!).

Amanda talked to InStyle Hair about her hair tips and makeup preferences:

On the reason she’d cut her hair: “I would chop [my hair] all off for a movie, but the role would have to be worth it.”

On why she likes wavy hair over straightened hair: “It’s natural. It means I spend less time doing my hair”

On the eye makeup she likes: “[I like] smoky eyes at night, and a nice little cat eye is really helpful,” she says. “You want to look like yourself but not too naked.”

On why red lips are the best: “It has a more traditional glamour,” she says. “It’s timeless.”

On preferring lipstick over gloss: “I don’t wear it often, but I like the matte finish.”

Seyfried’s next movie, Letters To Juliet, hits theaters this Friday, May 14th. It’s definitely a must-see for me.

But back to her hair! Have you ever want to kind of virtually try it on? And that stuff  really makes a difference in how your hair can look – but it’s better to test it out virtually than spend the time and money on something you’d hate.

How to get Amanda Seyfried’s Hair from the InStyle cover look with a flower hair clip:

1. While wet, use a volume boosting product (or a volume boosting shampoo). Let your hair air dry so it has maximum wave. Make a deep side part.
2. Take a curling iron and define some large waves in your hair (Bottom half only), making sure to run your fingers along it so that it doesn’t look too tight. (For this Amanda Seyfried hair tutorial, I am suggesting using a curling iron – but if your hair is wavy enough that you can skip it, by all means do!)

3. Spray your hair lightly with hairspray so the waves don’t fall, and optionally – some shine spray (her hair is always super shiny). Smooth the top 1/3 of your hair down the most for this particular look. But be careful not to use too much product or it will look oily!

4. On the side where you have most hair hanging on the side of your face, take your hairclip and gently slide it against your hair, anchoring it against your head so it’s lining up with the outer corner of your eye. It should remain viewable in the front. Arrange your waves to look like they’re flowing down from the flower.
