The next time you have to buy a gift, consider making it a present with purpose.

It is my pleasure to tell you guys about the website Presents for Purpose (PFP). Alayana Kassan and Cynthia W. Dressel are the founders of this online retail destination with an emphasis on charity. Both of the women are survivors of Lymphoma. Leslie Weissman is co-owner of PFP and shares the same urges to contribute to charity in efforts to help improve the lives of strangers.

When we see the pink ribbon to support breast cancer, we do want to buy something. The problem is that often you don’t know how much is actually getting contributed to the breast cancer cause. But it does illustrate the point that we do like the idea of buying something that also helps someone else out. We like to shop for charities!

And if that’s something you can get on board with, you should get on board with this website. Not only are the items on the website gifts that seem meaningful and special, but everything contributes a percentage of your purchase to a charity that you choose. (Every item tells you what percentage is donated. It is always at least 10%.)

The quality of the products I’ve seen first hand, and is great. It’s easy to see why people don’t just love the idea of the site, but the actual items provided on the site. It makes for a great shopping experience, especially if you want to shop to give back to charity.

I am especially fond of The Creative Coalition. Christopher Reeve is quoted on the site as saying, “The Creative Coalition was formed by a belief that we as artists had to educate ourselves about important issues, and then use our talents as communicators to educate others.” They advocate for the arts in schools, protect people by using the first amendment, and work to educate the world through their medium (art!).

Of course, that’s just one of the charities that PFP works with. Another one to think about is First Book, which helps get children books. There’s no unworthy charity in the mix. The next time you have to buy a gift, consider making it a present for a purpose.

PFP has a private line of trendy tee shirts, fashion watches, jewelry, travel, tote and handbags, accessories, corporate and baby gifts, home and spa products and personalized gifts. While many of the collections on the site are designed in house, PFP also sells items by designers exclusively developed for PFP—allowing designers to offer these fashionable, meaningful collections under their own label.

“Providing funding and awareness for charitable organizations is at the
core or our mission,” says Leslie B.Weissman, COO. “Every dollar
contributed to a charitable organization comes straight from our bottom
line, not our customers!”
