Review and Giveaway: Butterfly Pashmina or scarf of your choice

by on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

It may be cliche to so boldly mention, as though this were a new idea, but you don’t have to spend an arm and a precious pinky to look cute. One tool at your disposal? The Affordable Style Network. The items in their different stores have a designer influence, but at an everyday girl price (as opposed to the celebrity actress price). Their network has a shop for sunglasses, handbags, neck ties, watches, scarves, jewelry and even reading glasses. But let’s go back a bit to the scarves. These are an accessory that is seeing more play these days. It used to be you just needed one winter scarf, but now you can own scarves of all different patterns, trends, and for different seasons. Honestly, sometimes I just like to tie a scarf to a handbag’s handle for a lil pizazz and decoration.

celebrate life every day

No matter the weather, I always love pashmina’s. (Although they work best in spring/summer/autumn like other great spring scarves and summer scarves) They’re excellent, shawl-like scarves which are very popular. I was psyched to see that Affordable Scarves had a huge selection of pashmina’s at such a low cost. I was first drawn to a solid-colored one, in purple like I’d once seen in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and always envied Buffy for having (because she looked so chic, dammit).    But there were some great patterned pashy’s (can I call them that? no?) so I ended up with the Butterfly Pashmina in gorgeous, warm red hues.

The quality isn’t any less than of the one my sister bought in NYC for – seriously – double the price. A pashmina is a pashmina, and these are genuine ones at this website. I inspected it for any snags, and there were none. And it even arrived in an economically space-saving box, but within a plastic sleeves to keep it wrinkle-free. I really appreciated those little touches.

Keep warm on cool nights with our Butterfly Pashmina Wrap. This beautiful and authentic wrap is elegant enough to pair with your evening dress for a night on the town, but can also be used as a more casual accompaniment to your favorite sweater. The deep fall colors make the butterfly pattern pop and the soft 100% pashmina is soft against your skin.

This pashmina can be worn with either side facing out. The side pictured is a deep orange with fall colored accents, while the opposite side is a dark brown. A total of four large butterflies are shown on this large wrap. List price: $16.95 (You Save 15%) Sale Price: $14.41

daily challenge blog

Opening yourself up to doing different things can always be a challenge. But it’s a worthwhile one – unless the different thing you want to do is wrestle an alligator. Don’t do THAT. Instead, try wearing a summer scarf. For warmer months, I suggest long, lightweight scarves (the longer the better). If you wear a scarf with an otherwise plain outfit, you can make it look entirely new. And people won’t even realize “hey, you are wearing that same black dress but with a scarf” they’ll just think you’ve splurged on something amazing and new. Little do they know how little you had to splurge.  And unless they’re your best friends, don’t even tell them. This way you can use the Affordable Style Network for most of your Christmas shopping, and no one has to know how little you spent (I bet they have great discounted rates/free shipping if you buy a bunch of stuff at once – which is what I tend to do for big holidays that require gifts.)

And your second challenge is even easier – simply enter this contest for a chance to win a scarf of your choice.
