The Top 2011 Jewelry Trends have Voluminous Elements

by on Saturday, December 18th, 2010

Whether it’s a bright pop of color, or just the sheer size of the piece – jewelry for 2011 is all for making a considerable impact on passer’s by (yes, I am thinking of Sarah Jessica Parker as I type that). What can you expect as 2011 jewelry trends? We did some research to see what you might encounter, especially when it comes to Spring 2011 jewelry trends. Our forecast includes chokers, more layered chain necklaces, blue sapphire jewelry and lots and lots of cuff bracelets.

2011 Jewelry Trends Shown here:

  1. Malibu Flower Cuff from Foxy Originals: Here
  2. Kate Spade New York Moonlit Garden Floral Cuff: Here
  3. Jasmine Tassel Necklace from Foxy Originals: Here
  4. Blue Sapphire Ring: Here

(Remember, Spring jewelry trends for 2011 will always include floral motifs!)

Invest in Cuffs for 2011 Jewelry:

At the Elie Saab Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear show we saw a gorgeous golden cuff: Here. Elie Saab also used lots of golden bangles. Chanel also had black (enamel?) cuffs at the Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear show as you see: Here. They also have embellished cuffs with structural flowers, or piles of bangles on both wrists. But of course, chain necklaces aren’t gone yet. (Here.) Issac Mizrahi also favored matching cuffs for Spring 2011 jewelry trends (Here). Georgia Armani piled three similar (in color) cuffs on one of his models in the Spring 2011 Ready to Wear Runway (Here.)

Keep your Tassels for 2011 Jewelry Trends:

Oscar de la Renta showed a tassel necklace (here) and even bright green tassel earrings (here)!

Buy some Chokers for 2011 Jewelry:

I’ve heard some talk that chokers might be coming back. Ralph Lauren’s 2011 RTW Spring show featured at least three different chokers made of wide cut leather and metal elements (here). Lanvin also had a leather-looking choker at their Spring 2011 show (here).

Braided and Knotted Belts for 2011 Jewelry/Accessories:

I’m always interested in Vera Wang’s jewelry, so I looked to see what I could find of Vera Wang jewelry in 2011. On her website, you can see she is interested in black (satin?) knotted belts, which almost have a nautical element to them a bit. Of course, I’m no knot expert. I was in the Girl Scouts, but I don’t recall having to create any knots. Even though movies always lead me to believe that I should have learned all of that. Anyway, I also noticed that Ralph Lauren was using lots of belts embellished with metal for 2011.

For Vera Wang Resort 2011 she used lots of organic bracelets with fringe type detail.

Keep your Chains, the Bigger the Better for 2011 jewelry:

We’ll still see chains everywhere, including chains with an ombre effect.Metal jewelry in general is going to be very popular. And the bigger the better.

Blue Sapphire Engagement Rings:

With the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, that infamous blue sapphire engagement ring is back in the spotlight. I suspect lots of brides will want similar rings, as will women looking for rings in general (especially right hand rings.) In fact, demand for blue sapphires in general may go up.

Oversized and Statement Jewelry Trends:

As I stated above, large pieces are still popular. As is layering large pieces. If you don’t like this trend, you can opt for smaller layered pieces such as the Me & Ro jewelry you see on Courtney Cox in Cougar Town.
